The LA2050 Grants Challenge application closes tomorrow, June 28th at 5:00 pm (PT).
First, almost 15,000 Angelenos voted for the issues that mattered most to them. Now, in collaboration with our funding partners, we are granting more than $2 million to local nonprofits, social enterprises, and government agencies making an impact on those top-voted issues.
It's not too late to apply with your best idea!

ELIDA LEDESMA| Executive Director,
Arts for Healing and Justice Network
My favorite Los Angeles places and spaces...
PLAY: When I need a dose of nature, I head over to Palos Verdes for hikes with awe-inspiring views! There are several trails you can do along the shoreline including one of my favorites, the Bluff Cove to Lunada Bay trail.
CREATE: I want to put Espacio 1839 on more people's radar! It's more than a shop, it's a cultural and community hub. There are an array of events like book releases, vendor markets, and art shows.
CONNECT: I'm a big fan of Grand Performances' summer concert series. They provide free access to a variety of performing arts that include well known artists and they also provide a platform for emerging artists. The calendar of events highlights various cultures and helps foster a sense of community through music and dance.
LEARN: One of my favorite pastimes is reading. Octavia's Bookshelf in Pasadena is a black-owned, independent bookstore that features works by BIPOC authors. Nothing beats perusing bookshelves and discovering a good book!
LIVE: Growing up in Boyle Heights my family would go to El Mercadito off 1st St. It's a bustling market with products from Mexico including food, clothes, music, and so much more. Going to El Mercadito was a way to connect to my culture and its traditions.
