West River Winds in concert July 1 at the ND Heritage Center & State Museum

BISMARCK, N.D. – West River Winds Community Band will be performing an “Olympic Spirit” concert Monday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the outdoor Prairie Amphitheater on the south lawn of the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. The performance is free and open to the public.

Kick off July with music to celebrate the Olympic games, as well as movie and Broadway tunes, pop, jazz, opera, and your favorite patriotic standards. Directed by John Darling and Abelardo Flores, West River Winds Community Band was created in 1982 at Mandan High School to encourage musicians to show the community the value of music.

Lawn chairs or blankets and sunglasses are encouraged. Parking is available at both the ND Heritage Center & State Museum and former North Dakota Department of Water Resources building.

The North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information contact Kara Haff, 701.328.3547. Find a calendar of upcoming State Historical Society of North Dakota events at history.nd.gov/events.
