Camp Hancock State Historic Site adds Saturday programming
BISMARCK, N.D. – Looking for family-friendly Saturday afternoon activities this summer? Camp Hancock State Historic Site in Bismarck has expanded their free interactive learning programs to Saturdays. All ages are welcome, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Cookies and lemonade will be served as well.
June 29 Origami Animals, 2-4 p.m. Camp Hancock is home to a variety of animals such as rabbits, flickertails, and birds. Learn how to create origami animals.
July 6 Snow Making, 2-4 p.m. Find out how snow has impacted Camp Hancock. Make your own snow.
July 13 Morse Code, 2-4 p.m. Morse code was used at the U.S. Weather Bureau to relay weather information. Discover how messages were sent using Morse code.
July 20 Pinwheels, 2-4 p.m. North Dakota experiences a lot of wind. Harness the energy of the wind with a homemade pinwheel.
July 27 Signal Corps Chevron Crafting, 2-4 p.m. Hear about the role of the U.S. Army Signal Corps when it was stationed at Camp Hancock. Create a chevron patch used to show rank, similar to those worn on the sleeves of the military who served there.
Camp Hancock State Historic Site, 101 E. Main Ave. in Bismarck, is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
