Saturday, we travel to the island of Taha'a by plane and then by boat. Many of you may remember our trip there in May of 2023 with Operation Christmas Child, and how we needed prayer to even have a single event on the island. On the eve of the campaign we had no events and no transportation, yet your prayers broke through for us and God enabled us to share Christ with over 850 children. Today, we are at the same critical crossroads. We have a team of six, a well-planned children's ministry as well as Bible studies for adults. We have places to stay and cars to drive, but much like before, no actual confirmation of ministries. PLEASE PRAY.
1. That our contacts on the island will organize the children's and adult ministries toward maximum participation.
2. For smooth travels.
3. That our team would stay healthy.
4. That we can be a blessing to the people of Taha'a, leading more people to faith in Christ while motivating others to grow in Him.
5. For new contacts and foundations for future ministries.
In other ministries:
Our Tuesday Bible studies continue. There has been strong opposition to grace as we study through Romans. PLEASE PRAY for a spirit of love and reason as we examine the issues in their Scriptural contexts. We seem to be at tipping point.
The Reading Bus ministry is moving slowly for these reasons: PRAY that...
1. An incredibly difficult path to obtain local driver's license. We have been stymied at even submitting an application to take the driver's exam. Without licenses we cannot obtain car insurance. We currently have a workaround for the insurance but for a ministry we need licenses and fully functional insurance.
2. We are working on getting a logo for our car and a sandwich board so that we can be easily identified as we go from location to location. It has been slow but we hope to have something in the next couple of weeks.
3. We are waiting to have our first meeting with a mayor on Tahiti so that we can talk about what we do. Her niece is our contact. After Taha'a we hope to have our meeting. Please pray for this first open door in our home town of Papara.
Yet, we have had reading sessions in the past few weeks at two locations, and they seem to have gone well. We are praying for expansion!
The Bible Institute of Polynesia is also going strong.in its infant stages. Recently we boosted a Facebook ad that was viewed a few thousand times, and garnered dozens of responses. Some of the responses expressed opposition while others had genuine interest.
Jim and Phyllis Myers are visiting next month and we need PRAYERS for organization and attendees for our events. We will be announcing those events in the coming weeks and promoting them as well through our Bible Institute Facebook and other avenues of publicity.
Rene' has been mentoring a few English-speaking ladies in our church. Please pray for this to develop, according to the Lord's will, into a regular Bible study.
We are supporting Christian Surfers Tahiti, attending their regular Sunday afternoon surf sessions at our local beach in Papara. Please PRAY for them, especially for their surf contest outreach, the Jesus Fish Fest, 10-11 August. Evanelia Tahiti and Insitut Biblique de Polynesie have sponsored the event and our logos will be on the surfboard prizes. These are brand new boards shaped by local surf legend Kevin Heminway.
Speaking of Kevin. He is also a talented guitarist. We have been talking for years about musical collaboration and at last we have something on the calendar. We will be hosting a jam session on July 27th which we pray will attract many other local island musicians and be a good foundation for sharing Christ. Please pray for motivated musicians to come and share the joy of music.
Lastly, we have launched our Evanelia and IBP YouTube channels. Please visit, "like" and "subscribe" if you are so inclined. There are already many videos uploaded and many more to come. This will be an exciting place to follow our ministry adventures from week to week.
You all should also be seeing some updates on our website soon!
Please check out our updated website!www.evanelia.org. It has pictures, videos of worship, and literary quotes about the islands where we serve! There will be regular updates as the Lord unfolds our work here, as well as videos of teaching and ministry events, and interviews with the islanders we work with.
