We arrived on Taha'a yesterday morning and we have been reaching out to every contact we know: churches, friends, pastors, and even the mayor. At every turn we have been hearing the same thing. It is Heiva week. We are busy. We knew that, of course, but we still anticipated a warm welcome and multiple ministry opportunities were possible.
Here are some POSITIVES:
1. At the moment we got off our taxi boat, we saw a little girl on the dock that we knew, the young daughter of a pastor friend on Tahiti (what are the odds, right?). We are working on opportunities for short activities with the kids at the camp this coming week.
2. After we dropped off our bags at our AirBnBs we went to a snack restaurant for lunch. There was a mom, grandma, and two little girls there eating as well, and after greeting them we had a little chat and shared Gospel coins with them. We found out that they are from our town of Papara and live a short walk from where we teach our English Club. Again, what are the odds! We have seen them twice since then and each time they were SO excited to see us again.
PRAY THIS WEEK:
1. Please pray for us to develop more contacts here and to follow them as the Lord leads. I often feel like we are living in the book of Acts, making contacts and leading people to Christ, even with much apathy and sometimes opposition. We do work in a notorious mission field that has been a cemetery of disappointment for many. We really do trust God who is the Great Choreographer of Connections.
2. Pray for the leader of the sports camp to allow us some fun collaboration and assistance.
3. Pray for Christian, a fireman here on Taha'a, that we might be able to meet with him and listen to his testimony of faith.
Thank you. We are encouraged and staying faithful.
