All of this great food ends up on the plates of summer staff and campers. What makes this even better is that we receive this at no cost to Ewalu! The funds to pay for this local food comes from the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) from the USDA. Every week I spend $400-$1,000 worth of food from the Food Hub.

The staff constantly tell me how good the salad bar is, and I know that’s a direct result of the quality of food we get from the Food Hub.

We are also putting the garden at the Ewalu Farm to use (see top photo)! We have been harvesting lettuce, kale and radishes, and should have our first tomatoes soon. Special thanks to Kate Longtin Johnson, adult volunteers and our campers for their work in the garden all summer long!

Thank you to our donors in May and June
