In May, the following trends emerged:
- Xenophobic messages referred to Ukrainian citizens in Georgia in a negative context for participating in protests. The authors of Armenophobic narratives were journalists from "Asaval-Dasavali." They claimed that America plans to unite Georgia with Armenia and that the ongoing processes in the country are part of this plan. Armenian ethnic identity was used in a negative context.
- Among the Turkophobic messages was the conspiracy by Vato Shakarashvili, the founder of "Georgia First," that the "global war party" plans to supply war-engaged Georgia with military resources through Turkey. As in previous months, "Season TV" viewed Russia and Turkey as occupiers, presenting the return of Georgian lands seized by Turkey as Russia's achievement.
- Anti-Semitic narratives included conspiracy theories that the war in Abkhazia was organized by Jewish oligarchs to expel locals from Abkhazia and create a second Jerusalem there. According to "Asaval-Dasavali," the resettlement of Jews in Georgia and Ukraine was planned, to give Russia a pretext to invade Georgia.
- Homophobic messages were mostly seen in the context of the so-called agent law and anti-LGBTQ+ legislative changes. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze cited the existence of LGBT propaganda as one of the arguments for the need for NGO transparency. Anti-Western, conservative actors claimed that LGBTQ+ individuals presented themselves as religious at the protest against the "agent law" to gain support for the revolution. The idea that only LGBTQ+ people protested the law and opposed those deputies who supported the law was being established. The conservative movement continued to make extremist statements and justified violence against LGBT propaganda. Many homophobic narratives were related to the Eurovision music festival.
- The main theme of anti-Western messages was the support of European politicians for the protest against the "foreign influence transparency" law. In this regard, the special target of discreditation was the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, Michael Roth, who mentioned the connection between the Orthodox Church and the ruling party at a press conference in Tbilisi. Georgian Dream and related pro-Russian forces promoted the idea that European LGBTQ+ officials have no moral right to teach Georgia. The West was still portrayed as a force fighting against traditional identity and Orthodoxy, imposing unacceptable values on us.

Xenophobic messages condemned Ukrainian citizens in Georgia for participating in protests. "Sezoni TV" spread the narrative that Ukrainians are ungrateful and do not have the right to protest as guests in Georgia.
Ukrainian citizens in Georgia do not have the right to participate in protests
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Season TV host: “Ukrainians living in Georgia, have you ever once thanked Georgia? On the contrary, they are the first to show up at protests. When you come as a guest, what right do you have to join anti-government protests, is that why the state let you in?”
According to a journalist from "Asaval-Dasavali," America plans to unite Georgia with Armenia, and the ongoing processes in the country are part of this plan. The same publication's author tried to discredit activist Lazare Grigoriadis by referencing his Armenian identity.
Georgia's unification with Armenia is planned
Makvala Berianidze, "Asaval-Dasavali" journalist: “Everything happening in Georgia is connected to Armenia because the American ruling circles are still pursuing a plan, according to which, on December 10, 1918, a resolution was submitted to the US Senate to unite Armenia with Georgia…”
Negative portrayal of Armenian identity
Dito Chubinidze, "Asaval-Dasavali" journalist: “At the prison gate, terrorist Lazarian was met by his mother, national television channels, and the so-called "Gen Z" - the swamp people and shame of the nation, a crowd of pierced-tongue and pierced-nose individuals raised by perverted professors, who gave ovations and great cheers to the unfortunate one.”

Among the Turkophobic messages was the claim by Vato Shakarashvili, the founder of "Georgia First," that the global war party plans to supply war-engaged Georgia with military resources through Turkey. There were also old messages that viewed Russia and Turkey on the same level as occupiers, presenting the return of Georgian lands seized by Turkey as Russia's achievement.
Vato Shakarashvili, Georgia First: “According to the global war party's plan, Turkey should play the same role with war-engaged Georgia as Poland does with Ukraine. That is, when Georgia's war resources are exhausted, and no warrior is left, Islamic fighters and the necessary material-technical base should be brought in from Turkey to prolong the war as much as possible.”
If Russia is an occupier, Turkey is also an occupier
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Season TV host: “I'm not talking about young people, but these people have driven older folks crazy, they come out and say I don't want to go towards Russia, I prefer Turkey, they treat us warmly. You brainless person, this Tao-Klarjeti?! When you vacation in Turkey and go to work there, doesn't that make you uncomfortable, and did Russia take it from you? There is a huge difference between occupation and annexation… Russia has not yet taken it permanently… Legally, this territory can still be returned…”
Georgian lands seized by Turkey were returned by Russia
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, TV host: “At this time, Turkey took Tao-Klarjeti from us, and with Russia's help, we regained Adjara, Guria, and Javakheti, and I think the church should make some correct messages for people in this regard.”

Anti-Semitic messages included conspiracy theories that the war in Abkhazia was organized by Jewish oligarchs to expel locals from Abkhazia and create a second Jerusalem there. According to a journalist from "Asaval-Dasavali," the resettlement of Jews in Georgia and Ukraine was planned, to create the threat of war with Russia.
The war in Abkhazia was organized by Jewish oligarchs to create a “second Jerusalem”
Merab Ratishvili, a writer working in Russia: “Who forced the Abkhazians and why, or who forced the leadership on the Georgian side for this conflict to happen?... Khodorkovsky financed the Abkhazian side… and who is behind him? - the Rothschild family. It was the period when they were deciding who should be the oligarchs... and I must tell you, only people of Jewish origin passed this test… This war was related to clearing the territory of Abkhazia from Georgians and Abkhazians in order to, among other things, transfer the Kuban region, Zaporizhzhya region, and this Azov coastal strip, along with Dnipropetrovsk, to create Jerusalem two…”
The resettlement of Jews in Georgia is planned for confrontation with Russia
Makvala Berianidze, "Asaval-Dasavali" journalist: “If America closes the project called "State of Israel," then it is very likely that some of the Jews living in Israel will be resettled in Ukraine and Georgia! This is a treacherous plan to blow up Georgia, and if anyone thinks that Georgia will become a platform for someone and Russia will not come in here, they are very wrong!”
There is a reason for the growing hatred towards the Jewish people
Makvala Berianidze, "Asaval-Dasavali" journalist: “Hatred is categorically unacceptable to me, but I still want to tell Mrs. Maisad (the Israeli ambassador to Georgia) that there is a reason for the growing hatred towards the Jewish people…”
Homophobic messages were mostly encountered in the context of the “transparency of foreign influence” and the proposed bill banning “pseudo-liberal values.” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze cited the existence of LGBT propaganda as one of the arguments for the need for NGO transparency. According to anti-Western conservative actors, LGBTQ+ individuals presented themselves as religious at protests against the Russian law to garner support for a revolution. The idea was established that only LGBTQ+ individuals protested the agents' law, and that they were the ones opposing the deputies supporting the law. The Alt-Info/Conservative Movement continued to disseminate extremist statements and justified violence against LGBT propaganda. A significant part of the homophobic narratives was linked to the music festival, Eurovision.

NGOS nontransparency is Used for LGBT Propaganda
Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister: “The non-transparency of NGOs and relevant media outlets is used by them to carry out activities fundamentally opposed to the interests of the Georgian state and society, such as drug propaganda, LGBT propaganda, a permanent attack on the Orthodox Church, political intervention under the guise of religion, attempts to undermine state institutions, and creating obstacles to the implementation of strategic economic projects, etc.”
At protests against the “transparency of foreign influence” law, LGBTQ+ people presented themselves as religious
Dimitri Khundadze, People's Power: “You see absolutely inappropriate actions when a Pride representative is engaged in prayer but cannot endure it for long and start cursing the Patriarch. This action, of course, is presented with the content of a fake, spectacular performance, mainly motivated by the incitement of a revolution.”
Zura Makhardze, Alt-Info Host: “You can tell smart people run these [anti-law] protests because they set up a lesbian with a candle who sang 'Christ is Risen'. It’s clear now, some in Tbilisi Pride suddenly became religious, which is cringe and overkill. Nino Lomjaria becoming Orthodox, of course, is a joke... but it’s a indication that those organizing this are gradually neutralizing effective points of influence. If you say you stand with Tbilisi Pride, you stand with pederasts. What kind of Christians are you who couldn't light a candle on Easter? They are working purposefully on such things…”
Violent actions against LGBT propaganda are justified
Giorgi Kardava, Conservative Movement: “Banning gay pride, as well as teaching children pedophilia and some gender craziness, is so important to us that not only is fighting for it justified, but taking up arms might be necessary. I say this openly. If I were convinced tomorrow that they would set up a pedophilic environment here like in Germany, I would take up arms. If I think that political means cannot achieve the protection of children, my child, I will resort to extreme measures.”
Shota Martinenko, Conservative Movement: “To put it bluntly, if you have to talk about, for example, preventing a gay pride event and someone gets beaten up and you say, 'I think they beat themselves,' you are screwed.”
LGBT propaganda must be banned/criminalized by law
Tamta Megrelishvili, People's Power: “The transparency law and the bill on LGBT propaganda is a dignified act that the government team and every Georgian who values our culture, identity, and tradition will fully protect.”
Giorgi Kardava, Conservative Movement: “Things that embolden Georgian children, like dressing boys in girls' clothes, I can't even turn my tongue to say. This is all done by this government. If we were in power, would anyone dare to do such things?... Anyone who speaks in favor of this would end their life in prison.”
LGBTQ+ individuals are protesting the “agents' law”/bullying law supporters
Vladimir Solovyov, Russian Propagandist: “Are the [anti-law protesters] the same people who support gay parades?... So, this is also a gathering of godless pederasts?”
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Season TV Host: “I want to show a picture now of who attacked [Eliso Bolkvadze]; this is Jino Dolidze and his wife, Tamuna Jincharadze, politicians Ana Dolidze's sister and her lesbian partner. These lesbians attacked Eliso Bolkvadze, calling her a slave. Should lesbians and pederasts decide the political future of Georgia? Go and kiss each other and caress each other, stick a pole in a certain place…”
Marshalpress Editorial: “MP Eliso Bolkvadze was attacked at the airport by Georgian lesbians who called her a traitor because she voted for the law on transparency of foreign influence.”
LGBTQ+ people hinder relations with Russia
David Ziraqishvili, Fifth Article of the Constitution Defense League: “They are agents fulfilling the orders of foreign intelligence services... Relations with Russia are warming up, and when this LGBT community protests against it, the government should take more measures and prevent it.”
Eurovision is an LGBTQ+ competition
Giorgi Akhvlediani, Host: “Perhaps it’s time for us to collectively decide whether we need such a musical contest [Eurovision] where no one needs healthy, talented, and beautiful individuals?! Instead, political interest, transgenderism, and most importantly, Satanism win.”
Dito Chubinidze, Journalist, Asaval-Dasavali: “The modern perverted world preferred some smelly sodomite, dressed in women’s clothes, over our beautiful Nuca, a world-class singer blessed by God…”
The main theme of anti-Western messages was European politicians speaking out at the protest against the “transparency of foreign influence” law. Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael Roth was particularly targeted, who mentioned the connection between the Orthodox Church and the ruling party at a press conference in Tbilisi. Statements from “Georgian Dream” and associated pro-Russian forces claimed that European LGBTQ+ officials have no moral right to teach Georgia. The West was portrayed as a force fighting traditional identity and the church, imposing unacceptable values, with Russia offered as a counterbalance.
European LGBTQ+ officials have no moral right to teach us
Beka Odisharia, Georgian Dream: “…Certain people haven’t looked after their moral principles and I ask embassies to translate this for those I personally know: they should first fix their own morals and only then try to teach the Georgian people, who were born at least three thousand years before their nations.”
Dito Chubinidze, Journalist, Asaval-Dasavali: “A guest, especially a depraved sodomite, has no moral right to act so arrogantly in the host country! Not to mention that a degenerate like Michael Roth has no right to talk about Orthodoxy and religion!”
Soso Shatberashvili, Left Alliance: “When Bundestag MP came out, a married man, and said, ‘You are in darkness’… Orthodoxy, it turns out, is darkness, and I wonder, when a German man marries, is he in the light with his spouse, lying in bed with another man? This man preaches to us and teaches us morality…”
European politicians fight Orthodoxy/the Church
Georgian Patriarchate: “In his statement, [Michael Roth] said: ‘How do you plan to create a bright future for Georgia without the young generation?! Only with the Orthodox Church, which is the closest ally of the ruling party?!’ The Church constantly tries to eliminate conflicts in society. Yet, with this statement, he separated the Church from the youth and the bright future of the country. This is a sad attempt by a European official to stigmatize the Church, especially in such difficult times.”
Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian Dream: “The statement we heard from Michael Roth is an attack on the Georgian Church. This is the saddest part. You know my special connection with German aid to Georgia. Such careless politicians ruin 30 years of Germany's aid to Georgia in one fell swoop. When they come to Georgia, they attack the Georgian Church…”
Irakli Zarkua, Georgian Dream: “…[Michael Roth], who came here, directly opposed our Orthodox Church and said that young people can’t learn anything from the party allied with the Orthodox Church. I was curious why he opposed Orthodoxy, and it turns out that in 2012, he had a nice wedding [with another man]. Such people, naturally, find our Church and Orthodoxy unacceptable.”
The West fights traditional identity/funds the fight against national identity
Irakli Gogava, Georgia Development Laboratory: “Liberal Europe is dangerous and threatens every nation’s identity, traditions, culture, and religion.”
Kakha Kaladze, Georgian Dream: “…When you claim to be my well-wisher, wanting my country’s development, progress, and wanting to finance great projects, how can I oppose this? But when you do this with one hand and with the other hand finance polarization, incitement of enmity, against religion, against the church, against everything precious to us, that’s neither friendship nor partnership. This law will allow us to name things correctly. We must know who the enemy is and who the friend of our country is…”
Europe is a victim of its liberal immigration policy
Giorgi Kardava, Conservative Movement: “People imagine Europe as safe. In any major European city, in Berlin, black people might rape you in a central park if you’re a woman. Pakistani drug dealers in Birmingham might kill you. Birmingham will soon be Pakistan
"Eurovision" is the Face of Degenerate Europe
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, host of Season TV: “Can’t you see what Europe is today? In Eurovision, people win the competition just because they are gay or transgender. I don’t even know their genders and sexual orientations anymore. They are awarded solely because they are different, and they are hired solely because of that.”
David Isakadze, Deacon: “Eurovision is no longer just a musical festival. It has gained a political dimension and has become the calling card of modern Europe. The decline of Europe began when they lost God, turned their backs on true faith, and brought a prostitute into the altar of Notre Dame.”
Pedophilia is Being Decriminalized/Normalized in the West
Ani Nadiraishvili, a journalist at Post TV: “In Germany, other European countries, and America, the trend is clear: cases of sexual violence are increasing, and the age of victimized girls and boys is decreasing. How does the West respond to this problem? The media tries to persuade the public to lower the age of consent. It is clear that pedophilia is being legalized.”
Shota Martinenko, Conservative Movement: “The liberalization process in the West implies that, eventually, they will move towards removing taboos and certain stigmas surrounding pedophilia. This is already being actively discussed in their liberal circles, and ultimately, if liberalism is not reconsidered there, it will lead to the normalization of pedophilia.”

Russia as a counterbalance to the West
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, host of Season TV: “...I am telling you that today, if you were even a bit responsible, you should send your children not to the West, but to Russia for education. I wonder where Ilia, Akaki, and our other Tergdaleuli were educated... Someone told me that in common dormitories there are transgender people on the first floor, gays on the second, lesbians on the third, and heterosexuals on the fourth... And then in the evening, boys come out in short skirts, right? And the streets of all these European cities are filled with LGBT flags. You won’t see anything like this in Russia...”
