Solar Village Project: Where Climate Crisis Meets Direct Action

Earlier this month, we launched our summer installations with three rural schools in Uttar Pradesh. This marks a significant milestone, bringing our total to an impressive 73 installations completed and managed by SVP, transforming lives and empowering communities. Thanks to another grant from the ERM Foundation, we will be installing solar arrays at an additional five schools next month. With Rotary Club funding another 19 schools, we have a total of 24 school installations lined up to be completed soon.

Introducing Our Microfund

We are also excited to announce the launch of the SVP Microfund program, aimed at providing financial support for small-scale solar projects in energy impoverished under served communities. This initiative will help accelerate the adoption of renewable energy by offering low-interest loans to families and small businesses, enabling them to install solar systems and reduce their dependence on harmful and expensive fossil fuels. Our goal is to empower communities to take charge of their energy needs sustainably and affordably.

We plan on installing over 5,000 systems over the next 10 years through the Microfund. These installations are funded through socially responsible investments, ensuring comprehensive financial sustainability. This means the initiative not only benefits the stakeholders in the communities we serve but also provides a meaningful return for the investors.

Individuals and organizations can invest in the Microfund to support these projects, with returns generated from the repayments on the low-interest loans. If you would like more details about the Microfund, please feel free to email me directly.

The Urgency of the Climate Crisis

While we celebrate achievements and growth, we must also confront the stark reality of our current global situation. The climate crisis is becoming increasingly dire with each passing day. For the first time, the world has breached the critical threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels for 12 consecutive months. This alarming milestone underscores the urgent need for action.

We encourage you to stay informed about the state of our planet and the ongoing climate crisis. Here is an insightful article that discusses the implications of breaching the 1.5 degrees Celsius threshold and what it means for our future.

Your continued support is more critical than ever. Together, we can drive the change needed to alter our course. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, every action counts.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we can make a difference and build a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
