As one of the holders of our stories and weavers of narratives, it is my honor to share with you the remarkable and transformative work of the EJ Disrupt Design Fellows and partners from these past few weeks. From California to the White House, and at every level between, these extraordinary EJ Leaders are steadfastly centering justice through partnerships with community groups, academic researchers, and dedicated advocates. Together, they are not just envisioning but actively designing the equitable future we all aspire to see.
In the wake of recent legislative developments and policy shifts, the importance of Environmental Justice has never been more pronounced. The Inflation Reduction Act and the ongoing debates around climate policy highlight the urgent need for inclusive solutions that address both environmental and social inequities. Environmental Justice is democracy in action, ensuring that every voice is heard and every community is protected.
In collaboration with these leaders, we witness firsthand how academic insights and community wisdom merge to fuel progress and inspire change. Their collective efforts emphasize that Climate Justice is our future, forging a path toward a resilient world for generations to come.
Join us in celebrating the wins, progress, power, and scale of the Environmental Justice Movement. Through these stories, we honor the relentless pursuit of justice and the shared commitment to creating lasting, positive change.
With deep appreciation,
Patricia Cortado (she/her)

The Environmental Justice Science, Data, and Research Plan was created to support federal agencies in the advancement of environmental justice. It features high level recommendations for identifying and addressing longstanding gaps, barriers, and missing science, data, and research relevant to environmental justice.
The four key recommendations include:
- Enhancing meaningful involvement and engagement of the public.
- Fortifying just treatment, equitable access, and protection from environmental injustice.
- Strengthening work and partnership with non-federal entities.
- Institutionalizing environmental justice.
The Environmental Justice Science, Data, and Research Plan holds further information on these recommendations.

The Supreme Court overturned the Chevron doctrine in a 6-3 ruling, favoring corporate interests over frontline communities. This decision undermines a 40-year-old precedent that supported federal regulations, making it easier for industries to challenge pollution controls.
