Welcome to the Ealing Gatekeeping Directors' Report to governors/trustees for May 2024. The half termly Gatekeeping Directors’ Report presents items of relevance to governing boards that have been shared via Ealing’s Gatekeeping newsletter with schools since the May 2024 Directors’ Report.

Governor training
Since 8 May we have moved to a new training platform – the previous company ceased trading. Training is available to view and book via Ealing CPD Online you have not booked onto training since 8 May, you will need to register as a new user the first time you use. Full details can be found here and in the article below. If you experience any problems please contact us. Our new training programme for 2024/25 will be available from July.

Ealing schools and LA working collaboratively are able to offer a fantastic local programme of professional development and training for all school staff and governors - supporting partnership aims.
We are delighted to announce that Ealing Learning Partnership has been recognised with a Silver Award for Impact through Partnership in the Pearson National Teaching Awards.
More case studies have been added. ELP schools are encouraged to share innovative ideas using the online form. Add images, videos and resources with your submissions.

CMOE end of year forms, fixed penalty notices, changes to Gateway, toolkits, notice to improve letters, code changes and upcoming attendance network meeting dates.
Reportable incidents should be submitted online within 24 hours and investigations completed within a week. To meet legal obligations, any outstanding incident investigations should also be closed off before the end of term.
The UKHSA have produced a measles information pack for educational settings to follow. Includes action to take now and if there are any probable or confirmed cases, template letters to send as required and factsheets to read.
Schools must have effective systems in place to manage trees on their sites, particularly those in areas frequently accessed by pupils, staff and the public. Tree surveys should be carried out at least once every two years.
Letters for schools to circulate to parents and carers regarding universal infant and the Mayor of London universal free school meals for the 2024-25 academic year.

SENCO's and headteachers are invited to complete the summer survey. This will help the Ealing Learning Partnership (ELP) gather a comprehensive picture of special educational needs (SEN) practices, provisions, and needs in your school.
The free-for-everyone uniform shop will be open daily from Saturday 3 to Sunday 18 August (10am – 4pm). Families can choose up to four items of uniform for free without having to make a donation.

A variety of free and low cost activities on offer in and around Ealing for children and their parents can take advantage of over the summer. Please share with families.

We are recruiting for a schools' outreach lead to join our management team on a voluntary basis to advise and lead on the development of the schools’ outreach programme for 2025.
The Family information service has put together a list of holiday play schemes for children and young people aged 18 months to 18 years old, running over the summer holidays. Please share with families.

Now is the perfect time to start thinking about recruiting explorer ambassadors (formerly known as JTA’s - junior travel ambassadors) for the upcoming academic year.
The DfE is asking schools to publish a summary of their music development plan on their website before the start of the 2024-25 academic year.
