OUR ICOYC OLYMPIANS
Elena Lengwiler on Course for the Olympics

Elena Lengwiler made her Olympics dreams come true at the Kite World Championships in Hyères, foiling to an outstanding 6th place and thus securing her ticket for the Olympic Games in Paris. The 27-year-old will represent Switzerland and the Gstaad Yacht Club in the Women’s Formula Kite class.
Rise of the Phoenix: Building a Kite Board for an Olympian

Having custom kite boards built by good friends and hand-delivered to Marseille is just the most recent display of community support for St. Francis Yacht Club’s Daniela Moroz on her journey to the 2024 Olympic Games. With the start gun for the first-ever Olympic race in Women’s Formula Kite Foil just weeks away, there wasn’t a moment to lose when Moroz decided she needed a new board with more stability.

Does Your Club Have a Mobile App?
Communicating with Members is one of the most critical aspects of yacht club management. With the advent of mobile apps, more and more clubs are creating customized app features or adapting best practices from other club apps to reach their members on a new level. Is your club doing this? We look forward to hearing more in the short survey below.

All results will be held confidential, and will be used for reporting purposes only, without reference to your specific club. Findings will be published in the ICOYC Currents and on the ICOYC website.

Accomplished sailor Di Hutton-Squire and her crew from Theewater Sports Club are challenging and competing against the formidable Royal Cape Yacht Club, the current holders of the Lipton Challenge Cup, which they claimed in last year's contest off the coast of Durban. It’s been many years since a woman skippered a yacht in the Lipton Challenge Cup, and with her skill and reputation, she will have a big following urging her to victory.
Stellar Long Beach Race Week

The 19th edition of Long Beach Race Week, co-hosted by Alamitos Bay Yacht Club and Long Beach Yacht Club, concluded on Sunday, June 23, with a full complement of races sailed in 11 divisions, including six one-design classes and five PHRF fleets. Throughout three solid days of racing, the breeze rarely dropped below 14 knots and settled into the 16-18 knot range for the most part. Blue skies prevailed and temperatures were in the 80s...YES, t-shirt and shorts racing!
