21st CCLC Town Hall!
Join us on August 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for the first 21st CCLC Town Hall of the fiscal year! This engaging event will introduce the purpose and structure of our Town Hall series, outline the technical assistance schedule, and discuss ACT Now's plans for the year, including relationship-building initiatives and the launch of a new funding tool. We'll also be sharing the new application for the 21st CCLC Advisory Council, providing a unique opportunity to get involved and make your voice heard. Federal Updates
Summer for All Act
On July 26, 2024, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) introduced the Summer for All Act. The Summer for All Act would allocate $4 billion over four years and $1 billion each fiscal year after to fund two new competitive grant programs managed by the Department of Health and Human Services to expand access to high-quality summer enrichment opportunities. The bill also authorizes the Secretary to reserve up to 5% of funds to conduct data collection and analysis to understand gaps in summer enrichment opportunities for youth and how to improve access to and the quality of summer programs overall.

PIE is Hiring an Evaluation Coach!
Planning, Implementation & Evaluation Org (PIE) is a Chicago-based, national provider of evaluation, capacity building, and strategic planning services. An Evaluation Coach of PIE Org is responsible for leading a diverse array of projects, staff, and clients through multiple evaluation cycles in a culturally competent and responsive manner. Primary work includes the strategic leadership of external evaluation work, evaluation coaching to help organizations build their internal evaluation capacity, and collaboration with PIE Org staff to do this work. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Registration Open for Youth Leader Activation Summit
The Youth Leader Activation Summit aims to empower Chicago's youth, ages 14 to 19, to take action and positively impact their communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from various youth leaders, engage with local organizations and programs that promote youth leadership, and connect with peers from across the city. This event will take place on August 3, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at UIC (750 S. Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60607).

New Community Outreach's (NCO) annual Back to School Fun Fair is taking place on August 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 43rd & S. Lake Park. Join NCO for a day filled with free backpacks, school supplies, books, community resources, games, prizes, and food!

REMINDER: 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) RFP!
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is seeking applications from public or private entities to provide 21st CCLC services. The 21st CCLC program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children. As noted in the RFP document, ISBE reserves the right to determine the number of awards and the amount of the awards. No applicant will receive less than $50,000 or greater than $600,000, with individual awards not exceeding $150,000 per site. For FY25, ISBE is releasing $10 million in funds for the first year, with the grant cycle spanning a total of three years. The grant period will begin no sooner than July 1, 2024, and will extend from the execution date of the grant until June 30, 2025. ISBE indicated there is no opportunity for renewability. Further, ISBE is giving 5 priority points for "novice" organizations, or entities that have not received 21st CCLC funds since FY14.
Proposals must be submitted electronically through the ISBE Attachment Manager no later than 4:00 p.m. CDT on August 16, 2024.
