A Word from our Chief Executive Officer, Mark A. Smith
Interestingly, at the end of each month, my role as CEO brings on a unique challenge. I must report the current events, highlights of our project groups, and our growth from eight years ago when Peter J Daley and Joe Campus envisioned a nonprofit Arts and Culture group in the Western Pa. area. I must admit it is becoming a daunting task. There is just too much to talk about. From our dedicated students, our faithful music instructors, our volunteer board of directors and associates, to the families and friends who support the ever-growing Nonprofit Cultural Arts organization in the Tri-county area.
One highlight that must be mentioned is our new Outreach Program in Western Pennsylvania. Recently, our Outreach Program Director, Marissa McFarren, completed a five-week music program in the Monessen area. Sponsored by the local SPHS, she developed an instructional music program that took thirteen local Monessen students from a point of “no musical training” to a short concert for the local dignitaries. With the assistance of Teresa Seh, Project Director of the Monessen Communities that Care, the concert was a tremendous success. Another example of the Power of Music and the Cultural Arts uniting and unifying families from our western PA area. We invite you to jump on the bandstand with us as we add new projects and programs to the MVAA programming. Contact MVAA at info@monvalleyacademyforthearts.org.

During the month of July, the Regimental Fife and Drum unit celebrated Its third consecutive year of appearing at the Battlefield Bash and concert at the Pennsylvania Monument in Gettysburg, PA. It is an honor and privilege that has been celebrated by the residents in our Mid-Mon Valley area but not limited to the entire Western Pa. region. With dedication, many rehearsals, and the extremely hot wool Civil War uniforms, the RFD represented the high standard of excellence in our local history and dedication to the cultural arts in the Mon Valley. The group led by Captain Deena Marie included Liam, Spencer, Mason Q, Mason S, Danika, Ty Lee, Preston, Grayson, Sarah, Jenna, Korben, Caty, Charlee, Emrys, and Elowyn. With sixteen of the twenty-one seasonal events completed, the Regimental Fife and Drum unit is always growing and recruiting. Many thanks to the parents and the MVAA Board of Directors for assisting and enabling us to show our talent throughout the state of Pennsylvania. For details and information concerning the MVAA Reg’t Fife and Drum unit, contact info@monvalleyacademyforthearts.org or call 724-565-1687.

Gifts by check are accepted throughout this giving window. If you would prefer to give by credit card, you may do so on September 19 through www.wccfgives.org.
With your support, we can continue to nurture the musical talents of our community, provide exceptional performance opportunities, and ensure that the arts remain accessible to all.
