The political climate has changed drastically since our last newsletter, and Democrats are invigorated and excited about this election! Kamala Harris has been drawing large, enthusiastic crowds at her rallies, and most inspiring is that young people are rejuvenated and excited!

Now we all have to do the work to elect Kamala Harris, hold the Senate and turn the House blue! When Madam President Kamala Harris wins, she will need the House and Senate to protect a woman’s right to make her own reproductive healthcare decisions, protect voter rights, and address climate change among other important changes.

Our Fundraising Efforts so Far

Indivisible Santa Cruz County has been working hard to raise money for voter organizations and writing postcards to voters in swing states and districts.

So far we have raised $20,362 for grassroots organizations specializing in getting out the vote in Swing States and Districts. Many of you came and supported these fundraisers and we thank you for your support. Here is what we have raised.

Details about these upcoming fundraisers will be posted in a few weeks.

  2. Write Postcards to Voters

Our postcard packets have been flying out the door!! We have sent out 25,850 postcards to voters so far in 2024. Commit to Democracy supplies us with postcards, voter names and addresses, instructions, and a script. If you would like to start writing postcards, it is easy to sign up! Click Here to sign up for postcard packets.

Once you sign up, you will receive an email with a time and a Santa Cruz address where you may pick up your packet. The only thing you need to supply are postcard stamps. You will also need to write and mail the postcards when done. Instructions and script are provided in the packet.

We are currently writing for two campaigns:

Rudy Salas is a Democratic candidate who is running to defeat Republican Valadao in CA District 22 (Central Valley). rudysalas.com.

Voter demographic: young, likely Democratic women voters in CA District 22 who are unregistered to vote to verify and/or register to vote.

Jessica Morse is a Democratic candidate running to defeat Republican incumbent Kevin Kiley in CA District 03 (Lake Tahoe) morseforcongress.com/

Voter demographic: infrequent Democratic voters

Both of these campaigns are very important to the Democratic effort to take control of the House!!

Thank you to all of you who have participated in fundraising and/or postcarding. With your help we will triumph in November!!

By now you are probably familiar with Project 2025 and the insidious and strategic efforts by the far-right movement to restructure the American government beginning January 20, 2025 (the first day of the next administration). Their policy document Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise sets the foundation for an authoritarian government based on extremist Christian values. Learn more about Defeat Project 2025.

Indivisible is launching Project 2024: Majority Over MAGA, a nationwide program to build a new Democratic trifecta, reelect President Biden, and mobilize a majority against the anti-democracy, anti-abortion politics of MAGA. This program is rooted in the strength of the thousands of local Indivisible groups nationwide and a groundbreaking voter engagement strategy. While this plan limits efforts to specific battleground elections we can still help from Santa Cruz virtually. Check out the virtual opportunities on Mobilize for how to get involved.
