Aber Days activities and Sunday History Programs planned at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site
ABERCROMBIE, N.D. – Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site near Fargo is hosting free family-friendly activities in August to promote learning and fun for adults and children.
Aug. 3 Aber Days, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Join us throughout the day for spinning and weaving demonstrations by Meagan Schoenfelder and Nancy Ely. Our storytellers will entertain listeners with tales of the area at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. While at the site, take a guided tour, visit the gallery, and shop at the Museum Store.
Aug. 18 Sunday History Program: History of Fort Abercrombie, 2-3 p.m. John Beving discusses the history of the people who helped create and sustain Fort Abercrombie during its time as an active military installation.
Aug. 25 Sunday History Program: Ballads on the Prairie, 2-3 p.m. Tom Isern, distinguished professor of history at North Dakota State University, takes us on a musical journey through the prairie.
Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site, managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota, is located at 935 Broadway North, Abercrombie. Summer hours are daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with guided tours available. Admission is $8 for adults and $3 for youth.
