PR tools for small business

PR is now more accessible to the small business. Everyone can self-publish. Everyone is creating content. The real skill around PR for small business is putting that content in the hands of the right audience. How can a small business leverage some online tools to do this?
Here are some of our favorite tools that can help your articles get found by search engines and your ideal customers:

PR tools we love

PRwire is a free submission tool that posts your media release on the "wire". This submission engine is used by journalists  by hundreds of journalists in Australia and google and so it is a really great way to get your content found. It will help drive traffic by including a link in your release of your website. Other services include Pitchengine , Pressit PRNewsire, and PRweb (the best paid PRweb).

SourceBottle is a great resource for connecting with journalists and or bloggers by being a source for a story or a resource give-away as a promotion. Other examples of this sort of collaborative PR tool include HARO and pitchrate

PR toolkit by PR newswire gives some great tips and templates to help you write, distribute and track your media coverage. Here is the media release template but I really love the PR release wizard that steps you through creating a release.

Article submission sites like Ezine are a good alternative to PR release sites. Article submission sites are more likely to see your articles on other blogs and can be useful in establishing credibility in a certain category.

Evernote is a great tool for collecting all your links and resources before you put together your article or release.

Iclipart is a great site for free clipart for your articles or releases.

If you are creating your own newsletter articles try some of the free email templates we have found at Campaign builder and Mailchimp.
