To the CARL 24th Annual Pooch Parade committee, CARL Board members, and Executive Director, Sharon. 

To the CARL Volunteer that answered my email, requesting a volunteer to design a graphic! The graphic was used in our Save the Date, our online advertising,  Pooch Parade brochures, flyers and walker registration t-shirts. 

To the CARL Volunteers that visited businesses throughout the county distributing brochures and flyers. 

To the CARL Volunteers that came and helped at 10 p.m. the night before to temporary chalk mark our booth locations at the event site. 

To all the CARL Volunteers, both new and returning volunteers that always volunteer yearly at the Pooch Parade!

To all the Pooch Parade Walkers that pre-registered and the ones that registered the day of the CARL Pooch Parade!

To have a successful day, attendance and earning funds for CARL were very important! We met those goals. All the visitors with their dogs dressed in their beach attire, were shopping at the vendor booths, CARL booths and the CARL Silent Auction. For entertainment, a day of dog demonstrations, agility and frisbee. And of course, The CARL 24th Annual Pooch Parade with Title Sponsor Cumulus' Steve Perez, KBBY-FM Radio DJ as our Grand Marshall!  Also, we had Rowdy, the skateboarding mini Dachshund as our Grand "Dog" Marshall.

C.A.R.L. To the Rescue! 


This mother dog was found abandoned in the desert and fending for herself under harsh conditions of heat and no shelter. Once the dog was picked up and taken to the shelter, it was determined she was pregnant. Because of the overcrowded conditions in the shelter, she was quickly moved up the list to be euthanized.

When Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL), found out a pregnant dog was put on the euthanasia list at a high kill animal shelter, they quickly put a plan of action together and picked her up. The volunteers arrived at the shelter just in time before the mother dog was to be euthanized.  This sweet pregnant dog was transported to Ventura and placed directly into a foster home. Fourteen days later she delivered 9 puppies. What could have been a disaster, turned into a success. All the puppies and mother dog were safe and were being raised in a quiet home that was free from stress.

The mother and puppies have now all been adopted out into loving homes. All the dogs are spayed and neutered to avoid adding to the overpopulation of dogs.

It has now been one year since their rescue and all 10 dogs got together for the puppies’ one year birthday party/reunion. This reunion took place at the rescue property of CARL in Santa Paula. CARL is a non-profit, all breed, no kill rescue that has been serving the Ventura County community since 1996. Mustard was rescued from a shelter with his brother Ketchup.  Mustard is sometimes choosy with other dogs so it would be best that we meet.  It's unknown how I would do with children or cats.

Please Remember To Recycle For The CARL Dogs!


                                   
 
We need your help. Please remember to recycle for the CARL dogs. The money we raise helps the dogs in so many ways. Many things have been funded through our recycling program. We have been able to purchase dog house heaters for the winter and misters for the summer months. We have been able to buy food for special needs dogs, provide medical, help sponsor dogs and much needed maintenance to the kennels to keep our dogs safe and happy. But we need your help as we can do so much more if you donate your recyclables.

Please separate your plastic bottles and aluminum cans and bring to the kennel. If you are unable to bring to the kennel, we can make arrangements to pick them up. You can also bring your recyclables to the CARL Boutique Thrift Store. What is good for the environment is also good for the dogs:)

The Adoptions Team volunteers help at the Adoption Center, Mobile Events, Private Companies events, Pet Care Center & Foster Care. We have adoption events all over Ventura County from Port Hueneme to Newbury Park. They are held on Saturdays &  Sundays at different locations. Outreach & Community Support TEAM
