Dear BAAITS Community,
We send a warm hello from Ohlone territories, and wish that you and your loved ones are enjoying these summer months. With everything happening in the world around us, we hope you are finding some time to reconnect with your kin, family (blood and chosen), and rest for the coming months ahead.
Here's a little summer update from our end: Although we did not publish an official newsletter in July, the LIA team was busy finalizing the storytelling project in our community and we look forward to sharing this work in the early fall. We also want to congratulate Two Spirits in Motion (2SiMs), an official international partner, on their first annual Traditional Two Spirit Powwow and community offerings in Saskatoon, SK. And finally, we want to acknowledge the tremendous community support that we received around our decision with SF Pride and the alternative activities provided for our community. What a beautiful time we shared together.
The BAAITS Board, with the support of legal counsel, has been busy as well, preparing our organization to become incorporated as a non-profit. And our dedicated staff, with the support of our amazing fiscal sponsors, has been securing what will be our new BAAITS office/community space at 415 Valencia Street in San Francisco’s American Indian Cultural District (AICD).
Lastly, we're thrilled to announce the date of our 14th Annual Two-Spirit Powwow. More details below, and please do save the date. In the meantime, we hope you'll join us this month for one of our upcoming August events. Enjoy these last days of Summer!

Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits (BAAITS) is an all-volunteer organization that exists to restore and recover the role of Two-Spirit people within the American Indian/First Nations community by creating a forum for the spiritual, cultural and artistic expression of Two-Spirit people. To that end, BAAITS is committed to offering culturally relevant activities for LGBTQ+ individuals of Native American ancestry and their families and friends.
