Upcoming Opportunities for

Spiritual Growth

Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.

When I was a child in Northern California, I knew that school was on the horizon when the pink amaryllises known as “Naked Ladies” sprang up with their trumpet blooms in mid to late August. Now that school starts earlier, so do the Ladies. In the spirit of these flashy friends, our fall season will open on August 25, with a presentation by the Sonoma Opera Guild, 2 pm in the parish hall to introduce what’s coming to the Opera House.

Moving into September, we’ve confirmed our interfaith conversation on Islam and Judaism for Tuesday, September 24 at 7 pm. As our speakers originate in the South Bay, we’ll be holding the conversation on Zoom. We’re looking into a watching party here, so that we can participate together. Stay tuned.

We’ve booked the Bishop’s Ranch for a day long retreat on October 29, led by our Spiritual Director in residence, Sharron Simpson. Also in the works is an opportunity to join a book group which will be discussing Victoria Loorz’s Church of the Wild, a visit to the art museum, and the chance to form a circle to explore the National Church’s new introduction to eco faith, Love God, Love God’s World.

How Positive Thoughts and Words Change Us

Greetings from your Retool-Refuel team!  Here is experiment we can all experience!

Masaru Emoto’s book The Hidden Messages in Water, offers the results of his experiments with both thought and words, positive and negative, on water crystals.  Exposed to positive thoughts and words, the water crystals show brilliant, complex, symmetrical patterns.  In contrast, water polluted or exposed to negative thoughts/words, show incomplete, asymmetrical patterns.   The implications create a new awareness of how we can positively impact our earth and health!

Try this:  Fill 2 glasses of tap water.  One glass place on a piece of paper with Love & Gratitude written on it.  The other leave as is and  moved about a foot away.  Focus on the Love glass and truly send your prayers of love and gratefulness for it sustaining all life for a minute or more.   Leave both glasses alone for 10 minutes.  Then taste them both and see if there are any subtle differences.  Let me know.

The program is on Zoom, Thursdays 10-11:15am for 10 weeks.  Donation $75 and scholarships are easily given.  Come join us this Fall to celebrate the wild and joyful church in nature!  For more info:  wordandlife.us. or call Candace MacNair 805-729-5751  candacemacnair@hotmail.com

Summer DOK Collection:

Thanks to all who have brought purses, scarves and other gifts! You can keep bringing them through August.

Blessing Bags are Due Sunday!

We donated 35 Blessing Bags to Redwood Gospel Mission.  Our next deadline is August 11.

Where else but here can one get a view like this on an ordinary afternoon walk?

St. Patrick’s Church Kenwood acknowledges that we sit on unceded lands traversed by the Coast Miwok, the Southern Pomo and the Central Wappo.

With God's help, we commit ourselves to acknowledging the truth of California's history, as well as strengthening existing relationships and improving our efforts to build collaborative relationships with Native peoples.
