This summer, Bailey Dunn has been hard at work on her field practicum in the Niassa Special Reserve, Mozambique, collaborating with Lugenda Wildlife Reserve and Dr. Brian Child. As part of her preparation for a five-year Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) program in hunting block L7, Bailey has been collecting vital baseline data in two villages, covering 90% of the local population.
Her research focuses on the history, assets, and perceptions of power within these communities. Through activities such as historic timelining, asset mapping, and focus group discussions, Bailey's work aims to enhance the team's ability to measure the local impacts of CBNRM both in the short and long term.
