Signup to help at our Bloomingdale Septemberfest Booth
The end-of-summer gathering is on Saturday, September 7. It’s a fun event with a parade, stage performances, carnival rides and games, food and craft vendors, and a beer tent.
Help us meet the public, share information about League events, voter services, and our non-partisan position. We’ll have a game and treats for kids, possibly election vocabulary bingo.
We will need at least two more volunteers for each shift from 8:30 for setup through 5:30 for cleanup, with each shift list lasting two hours and 15 minutes. So please register today to help: League of Women Voters of Roselle/Bloomingdale: Septemberfest 2024 (signupgenius.com)

GOTV Postcard Writers Needed!
Through a grant from LWVIL, we have been supplied 1,000 Get Out the Vote postcards. Through our Stamp-a-thon (details below) we have stamps (we could still use more!), and now we need to line up people to write a short note and address them. We have four opportunities for you to exercise your best penmanship:
- Members and friends, join us for one of three postcard-writing parties. RSVP to lwvrbmail@gmail.com and let us know who is coming when! BYO beverage of your choice. Bring a sheet of postcard stamps if you'd like to help even more!
- Thursday, Sept. 12 from 5-7 pm at Barb Hochstadt's home (350 Lakeside Dr, Roselle). We'll have snacks!
- Monday, Sept. 30 from 5-7 pm at Joan Richards' home (54 Chelsea St, Bloomingdale). More snacks!
- Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9-11 am at Panera Bread (370-420 W Army Trail Rd, Bloomingdale). Roberta will be there with baked goods!
- Prefer to write cards at home? Joan will deliver postcards and full instructions starting September 16. Send her an email at joanrichards74@gmail.com to arrange.

Taste of Roselle Vote Totals are In!
We had a great turnout at our Taste of Roselle Booth earlier this month. Thanks to all our members who helped the community vote in our election for Best Food, Dessert, and Invention! And thanks to all who exercised their right to vote at our booth! See the vote totals at lwvrb.org!![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXecmPJp4Mpi1PEjiYo_OpOkWSOSa4fZV7te2aw_u82gajB7B_o5BqIFPBQsIF6_QT25s5rd7zqXaJpgtKQWovnMerQNh2PYBgpIVEjYWwIR_umODmWgZWOnA7Fg9yQXbCsi73JkWrJhLyBXVL-1_UHyCBA?key=CpFbOnLrSjzSWbbE33cShg)
Our election equipment included jars and beans for little ones to indicate their choices, and paper ballots for everyone else. It was a lot of fun, and many people found the decisions harder to make than they thought! Some people were hesitant initially, but a little coaxing got them to participate.
Let’s remember that as November 5th approaches. Some people need a little coaxing to get them out to vote. If all of us motivated three of our friends or family, and they each asked three people….the results could be voter turnout totals worthy of our democracy.
Please be sure to sign up to help at our Septemberfest booth. It’s a great way to talk with our community about supporting and participating in our democracy.
