Free learning series 'Little Kids, Big World' featured at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum


BISMARCK, N.D. — Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to the free interactive learning series "Little Kids, Big World" at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. These interactive 30-minute programs introduce children to North Dakota’s fascinating history. Children and their accompanying adult(s) are asked to meet at the west entrance information desk. 

Oct. 2 Lovely Leaves, 10 a.m. Fall is here! Join us on a leaf hunt and see their different shapes. Create your own leaf prints. 

Oct. 9 Seeds, 10 a.m. It’s harvest season! Learn about the seeds from crops grown across the state. Decorate your initial with real seeds. 

Oct. 12 Corn is a”MAIZE”ing! 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The early peoples used corn for food and decoration. Explore the State Museum galleries to find corn across history. Make a bead craft that resembles corn.

Oct. 16 Oral History With the State Archives, 10 a.m. Have your family members shared stories from long ago? What information did they share, and what does it tell us about them? Learn how to interview someone and create a book of information. 

Oct. 19 Bats Are Beautiful, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Bats are the only true flying mammal. They can do a lot of wonderful things. Hear a story and make your own flying bat.

Oct. 26 Pumpkin Fun, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Pumpkins are a great way to celebrate spooky season! Come decorate a “gourd”geous wooden pumpkin.
