Switching from gas to electric stoves cuts indoor air pollution

Switching from gas to electric induction stoves can reduce indoor nitrogen dioxide pollution by over 50%, according to research by Columbia Mailman School of Public health and UC Berkeley School of Public Health. The study, led by Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Sciences Misbath Daouda, highlights the health benefits of transitioning to electric stoves, especially in low-income housing.

“Decarbonization energy transitions can improve health

the holistic health ramifications of energy use

in low-income populations.”
