Sending our prayers with Aimee Wittman to Rome!
A message to the parish from Aimee:
My name is Aimee Wittman and my family and I are parishioners at the College Church. I am the Co-Chair of the Pastoral Council and I also serve as a Lector. I am thrilled to share that I will be making a pilgrimage to Rome from October 1-7 as a member of the Discerning Deacons community.
Our pilgrimage will include a delegation of 50 pilgrims (including laity, religious women, deacons, and priests) from around the world (Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, and US). We will be in Rome during the Sixteenth Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. This is a gathering where the Synod delegates discern about important topics in the life of our Church, including how we, as a Church, can best honor the baptismal dignity of women and more fully welcome the gifts of women's ministry and leadership.
Our group of pilgrims will be praying for the Synod as we celebrate and bear witness to the gifts and graces of women in our Church that we love. I am so grateful to be a part of this pilgrimage.
I would like to ask for your prayers for our pilgrimage and for all who will gather for the Synod in October. I pray that we will continue to listen deeply to one another so as to discern the will of the Holy Spirit for our Church. I will pray for you, for the College Church, and for everyone in our St. Louis community.
If you would like to offer a prayer, an intention, or a blessing for our pilgrimage, I would be so pleased to carry your intentions with me to Rome. Please write your prayer on a paper angel at the back of church after the Masses on Sunday, September 22.
Thank you for your support and for your prayers.
St. Phoebe, Pray for Us!

Have you thought about participating in LIGHTWORKS this year?
LIGHTWORKS is a great opportunity if you: (choose all that apply)
- feel like everyone but you knows how to pray
- feel like everyone but you knows about Ignatian spirituality
- want to connect with people from the parish on a deeper level
- feel like your prayer is in a dry spell
- enjoyed LIGHTWORKS before and want to go through it again
- love Ignatian spirituality and enjoy experiencing it with others
Tuesday evenings on Zoom, 7:00-8:30 pm, beginning on Tuesday, October 1.
The group will meet in October and November, pause for December and January, and then resume in February and March.
"I feel like I was at a fertile time in my spiritual journey when Lightworks was starting last Fall. The seeds of Ignatian practices such as the Examen were reviewed and explained further than I had learned in the past. Taking time to pray and contemplate over the weeks made me aware of the ways in which I will still be able to grow in my faith even as I age." -Suzanne
Please contact Joe Milner today to register or ask questions: 314-977-7305 or joe@sfxstl.org. More information is available here and at the doorways of the church.

Are you a web developer? Have you been asking yourself “how do I use my gifts at St. Francis Xavier?” Well ask no more! We need you!!
We're seeking a one or two committed volunteers to assist in building a project website and implementing web-based forms. These will specifically support a “census" College Church is conducting this Advent season to update and understand our parishioner demographic information.
Volunteers are asked to commit at least 4 hours per week. This project is expected to take place between late-September and mid-December 2024.
Does this sound like you? Or maybe someone you know? Have these skills but can't commit quite this much time? Please connect with us to learn more by contacting Leah Shea at leahcshea@gmail.com or 314.825.1201.

Parent Formation: Introduction to the Enneagram & Parenting with Dave Ebenhoh
Sundays at 9:15 am on Oct. 6th, Nov. 3rd, and Dec. 8th.
Never heard of the Enneagram? No problem! In this series of three one-hour interactive sessions, we will explore the Enneagram and how it can help us navigate the journey of parenting.
Whether our kids are two years old or 20, the Enneagram offers insights that can help us become more self-aware as parents, more understanding of our children, and more open to the path of growth and humility that God may be inviting us to follow.
While the three sessions will build upon each other, feel free to attend any of the sessions that you can. Join us at 9:15 am in the Ballroom on Sunday, Oct. 6th, Sunday, Nov. 3rd, and Sunday, Dec. 8th. All are welcome.
Dave Ebenhoh has been a parishioner here at St. Francis Xavier since 2007, along with his wife Maureen and kids, Grace and Jonah. He works as a Chief Mission Integration Officer at Ascension Health and has been leading Enneagram sessions for groups and teams for the last 10-15 years, as well as offering spiritual direction and coaching for individuals, leaders, and parents.

Many parishioner and friends of College Church have set up weekly or monthly recurring online giving - which is easy to do and a tremendous help to our parish. It requires no processing of checks or trips to the bank, while also allowing us to better predict our weekly and monthly cashflow.
We have a newly replenished supply of the blue and white offertory cards (pictured above) on the tables at the entrances to the church. If you give online, please pick up one of these cards before Mass and place it in a collection basket during the offertory, a symbol of your offering at the Presentation of Gifts. Thank you to all who continue to use these cards!!
If you have any questions about how to set up online giving or are interested in making your donations through gifts of appreciated stock, a Donor Advised Fund or a retirement account, please contact Meg Beugg, Director of Parish Engagement, at meg@sfxstl.org or 314-977-7304 .
