The Westwood Village Improvement Association (WVIA) is preparing for an exciting transformation in our community. This Fall, Broxton Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic, creating a pedestrian-friendly plaza to enhance the vibrancy and accessibility of Westwood Village.
The Broxton Plaza is a temporary two-year pilot program, but we hope it succeeds and becomes a permanent part of our community.
What is a Plaza?
A plaza is a public open space closed to vehicular traffic. The Broxton Plaza will feature a patterned street treatment, large planters, tables, chairs, games, and weekly activations. Located on lower Broxton Avenue between Weyburn and Kinross Avenues, it will repurpose the street space into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly area for events, outdoor dining, and activities. This transformation supports local businesses and enhances the street’s appearance, improving the quality of daily life in the area.

Westwood Library's Quartet-in-Residence, the Fiato Quartet, brings us an intriguing concert titled American Harmonies. It celebrates the work of African-American composers in American classical music, including Florence Price, Coleridget-Tayler Perkinson, George Walker, and Jessie Montgomery. There will be time for Q&A at the end of the performance.
The library will not be open for regular business; the parking garage will be open at 2 pm.
