Dear friends,

There is a lot going on this September! Tickets are on sale now for the next CVAG Film Series, Youth Media Project is seeking applicants, and there's just days left to visit our current exhibition, Diane Landry: Matière dans le Temps | Matter in Time.

CVAG's Youth Media Project is currently seeking youth between the ages of 16 - 30 to participate in their next paid training program, which will run from September 16 – December 13. The deadline to apply is next Monday, September 9. Those interested can attend the information session that will be held this Wednesday, September 4, at 1pm on the second floor of the gallery.

The CVAG Film Series is back with 10 films from the TIFF 2024 Film Circuit, which offers diverse and innovative perspectives on the art and business of film. The films will screen at Landmark Cinemas in Courtenay every Wednesday at 5pm, beginning with with Perfect Days (2023) on Wednesday, September 18. All advance sales of individual tickets and season passes will be online; proceeds go towards our artistic programming.

The final day to see Diane Landry: Matière dans le Temps | Matter in Time at CVAG is Saturday, September 14. Once the exhibition concludes, our gallery spaces will be temporarily closed for take-down and installation. We look forward to working closely with the Walk With Me team to present the exhibition SAFE[R] at the gallery in October — more details will be announced soon.

 _____________________________
CVAG's Youth Media Project offers training in video production to youth ages 16 - 30. Each participant creates two films: one independent film that speaks to what they would like to see done better in our community, and one film in collaboration with a small business or community organization that celebrates the sustainable work that is being done in the valley.

The next YMP program will run from September 16 - December 13, 9am - 3:30pm on weekdays. Space is limited, so apply now!

If accepted, participants will be paid a full-time minimum wage.

To be eligible, you must have an interest in art and video, be between the ages of 16 - 30, not be attending school full-time, and not be on EI. View the program description and application requirements.

Bring your ideas for video projects to the information session this Wednesday, September 4, at 1pm on the second floor of the gallery. The YMP group will be offering refreshments and answering questions.

The solo exhibition Diane Landry: Matière dans le Temps | Matter in Time presents both previously exhibited and newly created works by Québec-based artist Diane Landry. Evoking a responsive consideration of the ever-evolving relationship between materiality and energetic forces, the artist “work[s] like an invisible orchestra conductor directing object-machines”.

Until the exhibition concludes on Saturday, September 14, Diane's video and installation works are visible in CVAG's Window + Plaza Media Gallery 24/7 and in CVAG's main exhibition rooms during gallery hours (or by appointment).
