BBA September 2024 Highlights

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It has been another eventful and busy month at the British Blockchain Association, and I am pleased to share some highlights with you.

Last week, I had the honour to be invited to a prestigious Government Reception, recognising individuals who have made "outstanding contributions to the UK economy." It was a moment of immense pride to represent the UK's Blockchain and Cryptoassets sector. During the event, I had the privilege of meeting policymakers, government officials, and industry leaders, all of whom expressed their appreciation of the work the BBA is doing to support and drive forward the UK economy.

Earlier this month, I was also invited at the Scottish Government's Headquarters in Edinburgh to engage in discussions around Cryptoassets and Blockchain Technologies for Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. I also participated in a meeting on Decentralisation and Scalability of Blockchain applications - a workshop hosted by the University of Edinburgh.

On 18 September, we hosted a hugely successful Blockchain Associations Forum (BAF) 4th Annual Summit was held on 18 September. The Summit brought together Blockchain associations, policymakers and regulators from 51 countries to discuss Web3, Tokenisation, collaboration and innovation, in the context of the global economy. It was an honour to chair the Summit for the 4th consecutive year.

We have started receiving some excellent abstracts for the BBA's 7th Blockchain International Conference (ISC2025) to be held at UCL in April next year. Please do not miss the deadline - submit your abstracts HERE.

I am pleased to announce the world's first "Scholars in Blockchain Symposium", to be held on 8 November. We have so far confirmed more than 50 blockchain professors from six continents. Additional speakers will be added to programme in due course, and registrations are now open.

I attended the Labour Party Conference and had an opportunity to engage with policymakers and industry stakeholders who believe in the transformative potential of Blockchain and Web3 technologies to drive growth in the UK economy.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events.

Until next time,
