During his time at U of T with the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering, he played a critical role in supporting key portfolios, such as Admission and Recruitment Undergraduate and Graduate Student Advising, as well as serving as the first point of contact for applicants, students, faculty and the general public.

Outside of work, Mark likes to cook and travel. Hobbies include playing basketball and reading Manga.

LEAF+ Project Participants Needed: Generative AI and Note Taking

“Using Generative AI and Retrieval Augmented Generation for Accessibility Services Note Taking Requests” is a LEAF+ project that explores the possibility of using Generative AI and RAG techniques to support Note Taking Requests from Accessibility Services. Associate Professor Olivier St-Cyr is looking for courses and instructors to partner with in the Winter-2025 semester. Those interested can contact Olivier St-Cyr at olivier.st.cyr@utoronto.ca.

This workshop will provide participants with a framework for understanding foundational concepts related to sexual and gender diversity, including gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.

This session will provide managers and supervisors with key strategies to create and maintain accessible and inclusive working environments. Together, the critical competencies people leaders need to make their teams feel welcome, a sense of belonging and comfortable to contribute fully will be identified.

Building Public Trust in Health Through Culturally-Aligned AI

Misinformation spread through social media has been responsible for an increasing mistrust of public health as existing analysis tools rely on logic and science, which often ignore people’s beliefs, cultural backgrounds and feelings. The fifth-annual Vohra Miller Lectures in Critical Public Health Issues in collaboration with the Institute for Pandemics aims to foster a dialogue on health equity issues, as it relates to culturally-aligned artificial intelligence (AI) to foster trust in health.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) Conference 2025

At a time where the impact of global events can be felt locally within post-secondary communities, the Anti-Racism & Cultural Diversity Office and the Institutional Equity Office in partnership with Hart House invites the University community for a day of dialogue and learning about holistic strategies to address racial discrimination and advance inclusive working and learning environments.

Share your experiences with accessibility at U of T

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Office is seeking input from the U of T community on the development of U of T’s next Multi-Year Accessibility Plan, with opportunities for community consultations in March, as well as an online anonymous survey that is open until April 7.

All African/Black-identified staff and faculty across all 3 campuses are invited to become a part of an African/Black staff, librarian and faculty caucus that comes together to support one another as we grow in our careers at U of T. Hosted by Dr. Roberta Timothy, the goal of this group is to create a network that can act as a resource for one another in our various fields.

Threads is a cultural fashion showcase organized by the dedicated medical students of the University of Toronto dedicated to celebrating diversity, global health, and sustainable fashion. All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Doctors Without Borders in support of their vital humanitarian work worldwide.
