News and Announcements

  • Commencement, Baccalaureate speakers announced: Award-winning journalist Scott Pelley will deliver the University’s commencement address on Monday, May 19. The ceremony will take place on Hearn Plaza and will begin at 9 a.m. Pelley has been reporting for the CBS News program “60 Minutes” for more than 20 years. Also joining Wake Forest for the commencement weekend will be baccalaureate speaker Reverend Emma Jordan-Simpson, president of Auburn Theological Seminary. Find full details at the Commencement website.
  • The Campus Life Advisory Council (CLAC) serves as an advisory board for the Vice President for Campus Life, Dr. Shea Kidd Brown, and provides invaluable input and suggestions for improvements to campus life at Wake Forest. This advisory council was created to provide students access to senior campus leadership that they may not already have through campus leadership positions, on-campus jobs, or other advisory boards. Undergraduate and graduate students selected to CLAC will serve for the 2025-26 academic year, beginning in September. Meetings will take place monthly on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. Applications are due Sunday, April 6.
  • The Spring Break Hours of Operation website has been updated to reflect changes in operating hours for services and buildings. Please note any adjusted hours for services and plan accordingly.
  • Update on Space Planning: On the first Thursday of each month, the Near-Term Central Space Planning Project Team brings you an update on Wake Forest’s space planning efforts:
    • New Student Center: Manchester-Pruitt is the recommended location for the new Student Center. It is central to campus, has important synergies with the Wellbeing Center, and is near the College and the Business and other professional schools.
    • Virtual Outreach Sessions: Students, faculty and staff will have opportunities to learn more about the Bicentennial Comprehensive Campus Space Planning process and share feedback that will help shape the future of Wake Forest at an upcoming Virtual Outreach Session. Sessions are tentatively scheduled for the end of March and April; exact dates TBD.
  • LeaderShape application open to undergraduates: Get ready for an unforgettable experience! LeaderShape is returning to Wake Forest for a second year, offering a four-day immersive program designed to help you grow as a leader and make a real impact. You’ll learn how to lead with integrity, challenge the impossible, and create a more just and caring world. The program runs from May 12-15 at Camp Caraway and is open to students who will be undergraduates in Fall 2025. Extended on-campus housing will be made available to all participants. Applications are due April 9. To apply, you must create an account through the LeaderShape portal. Questions? Reach out to Deb Marke, marked@wfu.edu.
  • Residential experience survey: As the 2024-25 academic year approaches its end, Residence Life and Housing wants to hear from students about their residential experience in The Forest. Students have received a link to complete the survey in their @wfu.edu email; please share your feedback, as you will help shape the future of the residential experience here at Wake.
  • Reminder regarding nondiscrimination practices: This general guidance is intended to help those who organize, manage, or operate Wake Forest programs and activities comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. For additional information regarding Wake Forest’s non-discrimination and harassment policies, please visit the Office of Institutional Equity’s website.
  • The Office of the Chaplain has put together resources for those observing Ramadan, including extended Pit Hours, premade Suhoor bags, and prayer times. Ramadan is observed throughout March.
  • From the Program for Leadership and Character:
    • During the second half of the spring semester, The Program for Leadership and Character will hold discussion groups open to all undergraduates that reflect on issues of leadership and character in relation to the following topics: Who is God and who are we?; Can I laugh at that? The ethics of comedy; and In search of hope. Discussion groups will begin during the week of March 24 and will meet once per week for one hour over the next three weeks. Undergraduates can sign up here; the deadline is Wednesday, March 19.
