2. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

The Georgia Capitol is calling! 
Spend this spring learning about agricultural policy in the state of Georgia! Interns will gain hands-on experience while receiving a $1,500 stipend! Learn more and apply online by October 15th!

3. SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS

2022 Georgia Agribusiness Council Scholarship
The Georgia Agribusiness Council is proud to offer the 2022 "Sumpin' Big" Scholarship to three recipients the year. Graduating high school seniors through graduate level students majoring in agriculture related fields are eligible to apply. Applications must be postmarked by October 12th.

OGE General Scholarship
The OGE General Scholarship is open to students participating in a UGA Study Away Opportunity (i.e. a UGA Faculty Led program, UGA Exchange, or approved independent experience for UGA credit). Learn more here and apply by October 15th.

Experiential Learning Scholarship
Experiential Learning scholarships are open to undergraduate students, including transfer students, with at least one semester of UGA coursework who are pursuing experiential learning courses or non-credit activities aligned with the UGA Experiential Learning Requirement. Learn more here and apply by October 17th. 

2022 Ratcliffe Scholars Program
You could receive $5,000 to participate in one or more formative out-of-classroom experiences! The Ratcliffe Scholarship provides an opportunity to engage in immersive, hands-on learning experiences outside the confines of a traditional class setting. Apply by November 1st.

4. CAES CLUB & SOUTH CAMPUS CORNER

Come to the CAES Prepare for the Fair: Career Fair Prep 101 session! You'll learn some pro-tips and best practices to prepare for the Food, Agricultural, Environmental, and Sciences Career and Internship Fair! Join your CAES Career Consultant, Brionna Johnson, for the CAES Prepare for the Fair: Career Fair Prep 101 on Monday, October 10th from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is a hybrid event so you can join us in Room 103 of Conner Hall or attend on Zoom. Place your order for an Ag Hill T-shirt!
UGA Young Farmers and Ranchers will be taking orders for Ag Hill t-shirts until October 19th. The t-shirts are $22 each and orders can be placed by contacting Paige Paschal.


Have you heard about Fresh Express?

Fresh Express is a new student-led emergency food assistance program, striving to serve balanced meals to students through non-perishables and fresh produce from local Athens-Clarke county partners. The pantry is located on the first floor of Joe Frank Harris Dining Commons and is open for pickups Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy weekly fresh produce from the UGArden as well as a selection of dry/canned goods. Students interested in volunteering can complete the Volunteer Interest form here. Norman E. Borlaug International Discussion

The World Food Prize Foundation welcomes you to register for FREE to participate virtually in the 2022 Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, October 12-20. Included in your free registration ($100 value) is access to all of the live-streamed events, as well as special networking opportunities with leaders around the world. This year’s theme Feeding a Fragile World focuses on overcoming pervasive shocks to the global food system like COVID, conflict, and climate demands. The event will address scalable solutions for adaptation and mitigation to limit planetary warming below 1.5° C and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Intern with the NASDA
The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA), headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is seeking highly motivated students interested in the legislation and regulations that impact American agriculture. Applications for spring internships are due October 31, 2022. Learn more here!
2022 D.W. Brooks Lecture
Mark your calendar for the D.W. Brooks Lecture and Awards on Tuesday, November 8th at 3:30 p.m. in Mahler Hall at the Georgia Center! This year's featured speaker is Dr. Alison Van Eenennaam with a presentation titled "Science Friction: Can Effective Communication Save Genome Editing from the Fate of GMOs?"  Learn more here.
