Missouri East Walk to Emmaus
October 2022 Newsletter

From the Community Lay Director

Greetings in Peace,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your families well as we transition into the Fall of 2022. The glory of God’s creation is all around us as the cooler temperatures transform the trees, revealing spectacular colors.
Come one and come all: A Gathering is scheduled for October 15th at 6:00 PM at Church of the Shepherd in Sant Charles. We will have an hour of fellowship followed by worship. Bring a dessert or appetizer and join us. If you have planned a Gathering in your local community, please notify the Board with the details so we can help you get the word out.
Join your Emmaus Board in prayer for our Spring Lay Directors Eric Patterson and Cathy Huskey and their leadership, as they form their teams and plan team meetings.
  • Men’s Walk #173 – March 16-19, 2023
Eric Patterson (Lay Director)
  • Women’s Walk #174 – March 30 – April 2, 2023
Cathy Huskey (Lay Director)

Remember your pilgrim Walk and how you personally experienced the love of God during the weekend? This scripture is a reminder of God’s desire for us to be obedient to his commands and that we walk in love:
 2 John 1:6
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

So, consider how is God calling you to be obedient? Maybe it means sponsoring a pilgrim, praying for the team and pilgrims and volunteering to serve during the weekend. How will you respond?

Christ is Counting on You!

Registration is open for the Emmaus Ministries Wellness Walk!

Due to the success and fun of last year’s online walk and challenge fundraiser, Emmaus Ministries is hosting the event again this year. All proceeds go toward the Fourth Day Fund (the operations fund) for Emmaus Ministries, which continues to recover from losses incurred during the pandemic.

Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to get physically and spiritually fit while walking the distance between Jerusalem and Emmaus (approximately 7 miles/11.5 kilometers/14,000 steps) as the first disciples did in Luke 24. The Wellness Walk takes place October 1–November 12, which gives you six weeks to go the distance.

You can walk as an individual—at your own time and pace—or as a team (either virtually or in person) with your Emmaus community. You can select your Community team at registration from the pulldown menu.

“Footprint” points are earned for steps, spiritual practices, and other activities that lead to physical and spiritual wellness. A leaderboard will track points for individuals and communities. Prizes will be awarded to top communities and top individuals who score the most footprints, so please get your community members involved. See all the details at the Wellness Walk site.

Registration is $29.00. For additional cost, you can purchase the event T-shirtRegister today for this fun event that supports Emmaus Ministries.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created. And you shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy Your consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
(You may email prayer requests of an ongoing nature to mitzib024@gmail.com to be included here, but please remember that our schedule is to publish every other month. If the prayer need is more immediate, please notify our Community Lay Director Steve Wallace (kswallac@swbell.net) about the possibility of doing an email blast.)
