A Note from Gary Buckley
October is traditionally celebrated as Pastor Appreciation month. The role of the Pastor is vital to our ongoing individual faith journeys as well as our congregation itself.

Pastor Sonja works incredibly hard at leading our congregation as well as Attending to many other roles she plays in the District Conference. n top of that, she is involved in many opportunities to deepen her leadership skills as well as strengthen her faith. Some of us work fairly closely with her and, though we she her work constantly, we do not see the time she spends in many other activities.

And,  though it is Pastor Appreciation month, we probably should not forget the pastoral family which, of course, includes Mike. Mike has been a key part of our working through the pandemic years and is a constant support to Sonja and the church itself.

There are many approaches of expressing your appreciation. Examples are given below. Baskets will be available in the sanctuary during the month of October for contributing cards and notes.
  • Write your Pastor a simple note of thanks for their work and their ministry.
  • Pray  for your Pastor and his/her family.
  • Offer to take you Pastor out for coffee or lunch.
  • Have the children of the church make cards for your Pastor.
  • Send your Pastor an email with encouragemen5 for the week.
  • Offer a prayer for your Pastor and worship on Sunday morning.
  • Get together with other families in the church to treat your Pastor and their family to a gift card for a meal out.
  • Bring your Pastor a treat to enjoy.
  • Publicly support your  Pastor and encourage your fellow members to do the same.
  • Support the ministry of your Pastor with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
  • Remind and gently encourage your Pastor to make time for self-care and rest.
  • If your Pastor is looking for volunteers, step up and get involved.
Hey everybody !

There will not be any Midweek activities this Wednesday because it it Fall Break. See you next week !

Have you heard the story about the persistent widow? Jesus told it about a woman who was fighting for her rights. She didn't give up trying to protect her rights until a judge listened to her and helped her.  We will talk about it in Sunday School.

In Children's Church we will continue our Words of Life study. This is where we will take a look at Jesus and the promise of the Ten Commandments today. This week our subject will be honoring our mother and father. In Exodus 20:12, the bible tells us "Honor your father and your mother so that your life will be long on the fertile land the Lord your God is giving you." Let's discuss what that means.

Check back next week to find out what's coming up!

All Staff Trained by Ministry Safe
Our vision is to strengthen families in faith.  We have put in a lot of work to make the Children's Ministry area safe and welcoming.  We have hired staff that we believe to be capable, and we have trained them on our Safe Sanctuaries policies adopted by the church for those who work with children, youth, and vulnerable adults.  We have also required them to go through Sexual Abuse Awareness Training through Ministry Safe.  For more information about Ministry safe go to https://ministrysafe.com/LearnMore/
