YOUR GIFT TO CFOIC HELPS SHINE A LIGHT
ON GOVERNMENT IN COLORADO

Fifty years ago next month, the voters of Colorado passed the Sunshine Law, ushering in a new era of government transparency in our state (and, as we wrote recently, shutting off the flow of free beer to the statehouse press corps).

The Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition is dedicated to making sure the Sunshine Law and all of Colorado’s open-government laws are understood and enforced.

Every day, CFOIC helps journalists and the general public navigate the open records and open meetings laws and fight improper denials of access. We provide training, resources and one-on-one coaching, and get lawyers involved when necessary. Our comprehensive online guide to the laws that ensure government transparency is free to use, frequently updated and indexed by topic with links to pertinent statutes and case law.

But we can’t do this important work without the financial support of people who are committed to keeping government open and accountable in our state.

DONATE NOW

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Colorado's Sunshine Law by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Colorado Freedom of Information Coalition.

Read about the evolution of the Sunshine Law and how CFOIC and its member organizations and board members have achieved numerous successes both in amending the Colorado Open Meetings Law and in applying it in lawsuits to ensure compliance by governmental bodies.

BTW, CFOIC is excited to once again be part of a year-end giving campaign, coordinated by the Colorado Media Project and the Colorado News Collaborative, to support the long-term sustainability of public-service journalism in Colorado. This is #newsCOneeds!

With gratitude,

Jeff Roberts
CFOIC Executive Director
