From October 24 to 26, more than 165 land trust practitioners gathered in Ottawa for the 2022 Canadian Land Trust Summit.
Coming from every region of the country – land trusts, Indigenous communities and government representatives participated in 22 workshops sharing knowledge during the three-day event.
The Summit was sponsored by Environment and Climate Change Canada, Maple Cross and Fondation de la faune du Québec. The Land Trust Alliance of BC partnered with the Ontario Land Trust Alliance, Le Réseau de milieux naturels protégés, and the Alliance of Canadian Land Trusts (ACLT) to present the conference.
During the Summit, the interim Board of ACLT and the Canadian Land Trust Working Group met to discuss the renewal of the Land Trust Conservation Fund and had breakfast with the House of Commons Environment Committee and MP Leah Taylor-Roy who commended land trusts during the daily Parliamentary session.
The ACLT acting interim Executive Director and members of the interim board presented their draft strategic plan to participants and announced ACLT’s first AGM for November 29. Details will be distributed in mid-November.
LTABC is grateful to ECCC for providing funds for the Summit which included travel subsidies and bursaries for land trusts.
Materials from the Summit will be shared on the ACLT website by mid-November. Stay up-to-date with ACLT by subscribing! ltacanada.ca
