NOVEMBER 9: ANNUAL SCEIN SHOWCASE
On November 9, Cleantech San Diego's Southern California Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN) will host its annual showcase featuring short presentations from SCEIN startups currently seeking Seed through Series A financing rounds. The presenting companies have cleantech solutions spanning smart grid services, energy services, energy efficiency, renewable energy generation, energy storage, and clean transportation. The SCEIN Showcase is designed to raise the visibility of these highly successful companies with investors, strategic partners, and potential customers. Presenting companies are: ChargeNet Stations, Enersion, Harvest ThermaligrenEnergi, Ivy Energy, KIGTReJoule, Smartville, and VECKTA.

SOSV Climate Tech Summit

The SOSV Climate Tech Summit is a virtual event designed to convene the emerging climate tech startup and investment ecosystem, which is relatively new and very global. The summit aims to expand access to information within the ecosystem and foster the connections essential to any startup ecosystem. 

There will be a track of more than 20 live breakout sessions led by the top early stage investors, including SOSV (HAX and IndieBio), Khosla Ventures, DCVC, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Lowercarbon Capital, Energy Impact Partners, Fifty Years, World Fund, Pale Blue Dot, MCJ Collective, and more. Energy Storage Innovations Prize

Nucleate Activator 2023

Nucleate's equity-free Activator program supports companies that tackle the biggest challenges in human health and sustainability. The program connects scientific trainees and business students with a world-class advisor network of startup founders, executives, venture investors, and scientists. The Nucleate Eco track helps address pressing problems in sustainability, with applications in energy, food and agriculture, materials, chemicals, and more.

IMPEL

IMPEL (Incubating Market-Propelled Entrepreneurial-mindset at the Labs and Beyond) is a Department of Energy tech-to-market program focused on building technologies, funded by the Building Technologies Office and implemented by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The program helps early-stage individuals from business, academia, and DOE’s national labs translate the premise and promise of their technology into the language of business, boosting their chances of bringing it to market. These IMPEL Innovators have a passion for the building lifecycle (design, construction, operations, and circular technologies) and for energy technologies that integrate with buildings (onsite renewables or grid integration incorporating electrification, energy storage, and electric vehicle charging).

REACH Energy Accelerator

The Regional Energy Accelerator for Commercializing Hardtech (REACH) is now accepting applications from energy hardtech startups, entrepreneurs, university faculty, and founders to join the 2023 cohort. The program provides hardtech-based consulting, prototyping, testing, technoeconomic analysis support, market research, and other business support services to startup companies.

San Diego Angel Conference

The San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC) is a 7-month cycle that connects angel investors and entrepreneurs and focuses on a ‘getting to yes’ mindset, a culture, and a philosophy that improves deal flow, strengthens the ecosystem, and activates more angel investment. 

The first four months are dedicated to helping entrepreneurs solidify their foundations and become more investment-worthy. The E-Track events for entrepreneurs are free and available virtually. This effort wraps up with the SDAC application deadline in December. 

Investors then evaluate and analyze applications for the next three months (starting in January). They work together to identify a winner and runners up at the finale in March and investors pool their funds to invest $200,000 in the winning company.
