Share your Halloween treats
Crossroads will be hosting our annual Halloween parade on October 28th. Any donations of candy, bubbles, stickers and play-doh would be welcome for our parade treats. Contact Donna at lawsondo@mdusd.org for more details.
Help young moms stay in school
Crossroads High School is trying to improve school attendance and would like to give out gift cards as part of their attendance incentives. Top attending students for the week will earn $10 cards and top attending students for the quarter will earn $25 cards. Donations in those quantities are welcome.
The baby formula shortage has also had an effect on the school's supply. When a student is in need of formula, Crossroads often is able to help, but their pantry is empty. Please donate small cans of Enfamil (yellow can) or Enfamil Gentlease (purple can). These cans will be used to help tide students over in an emergency.

Fall opportunities at Harbor House
For more information about any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact Nicole at nicole@hhministries.org.
1. Enrichment Club Leader (elementary or middle school): Share your gifts and talents with a small group of students by teaching an enrichment club (arts, sports, cooking, gardening, etc). One hour, one afternoon per week.
2. Academic Tutor (elementary or middle school): Support two students with reading or math for one hour, one afternoon per week at Harbor House.
3. Spiritual Mentor (middle school): Provide emotional, social, and spiritual support to middle schoolers during Friday afternoon youth group (4:00-6:00pm).
4. Playground Supervisor (elementary): Supervise kids during supper and free play in the afternoons, one afternoon per week.
5. Donate gently used children's clothing for our Olive's Closet Thrift Store. Please contact Dee at dee@hhministries.org to coordinate a drop-off time.
Do one small thing to address the reading crisis in Oakland
It’s not too late to be trained to become a tutor. Children Rising clinics begin in earnest in a couple of weeks, so caring members of church congregations can still join up!
Enable children in Oakland to overcome COVID-related loss of learning time. Children Rising is looking for volunteer reading and math tutors to support elementary school children in Oakland area schools for the 2022-2023 school year. No experience is necessary; they supply training and teaching materials. Tutors work one-on-one with students below grade level in reading and math.
The time commitment is 2 hours every week during school hours as a part of a supported, on-site tutor team. Learn More or Apply Now.
