Mrs. Michel's current junior high school ASL students are encouraged to attend Deaf Day at Waynesville Fall Fest on October 29th. Mrs. Michel also welcomes her former high school ASL students (and any other students who are interested in sign language) to come out and join the fun. A mini sign class will be taught at 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00. There will also be an interpreter on the adventure truck. To receive the Deaf Day discounted rate, mention DEAF STREETLIGHT when purchasing tickets. Mrs. Michel will be attending from 12:00 - 2:00 on Saturday, but the events will continue until 6pm.

MIAMI WORK + PROGRAM
On Friday, October 7th, Juniors and Seniors had the opportunity to listen to the Miami Work+ program presentation.
Miami Work+ Program is a program in which students work part time, apx 24 hours a week, at certain companies, and get tuition paid for in full. GIRLS SOCCER 14-0!!!
The Lady Spartans celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a 4-0 win over Greenview during our Pink-Out game. Seniors Gracyn Armstrong, Libby Bulach, Alyza Camp, Katie Dick, Allie Freese, Laine Kuhns, and Emmy Lezotte have all been integral parts of our program over the last 4 seasons and have really stepped up their leadership this year. We truly appreciate all of their efforts for the Waynesville community both on and off the field. Against Greenview, junior Sam Erbach led the team in scoring with 2 goals and 2 assists. This put her over the 200 point mark in high school girls soccer as a junior, which is a rare accomplishment! Sophomore Baylee Williams and freshman Chloe Dunford scored the other two goals for the Lady Spartans, and Freese assisted one of Erbach's goals. The win over Greenview was preceded by a hard-fought victory at Alter on Monday night. After trading goals, Waynesville pulled ahead in the second half and didn't look back going on to win 4-2 over the Lady Knights. Juniors Brooke Woody (with 2) and Caroline Stupp (with 1) both scored for the Lady Spartans along with senior Allie Freese. Assists were from Freese, Stupp, and Erbach (with 2).
The JV played a very competitive game against Alter ending in a 2-2 tie. Sophomore Becca Drew and freshman Claire Tussey both scored for the Lady Spartans off of assists from Tussey and freshman Addy Russell, respectively. Waynesville finishes up their regular season on the road next week with games at Franklin and Monroe. JV starts at 5:30 pm both nights and Varsity starts at 7:15 pm.
The Lady Spartans would like to give a shout-out to Kuhns Construction, Keller Williams Realtors Myles Greely and Angie Layne, and Dixie Marine for the donation of the new outdoor "State Champions" sign to recognize last year's team and their donations towards purchasing a team set of bags for the players! Also thank you Designs Now for the design of the sign and installation. We truly appreciate your kindness and support!
FILL THE BUS DRIVE
The Fill the Bus Food Drive was a great success! Food and toiletries were collected throughout the week during athletic contests and the bus was filled and delivered to the Waynesville Food Pantry this past Saturday. Thank you to Brian Philpot, American Legion 615, Scout Troops 516,1051, and the Waynesville Athletic Department for the support of this event.
Girls and Boys Soccer
Monday night the girls soccer team defeated Alter in a hard fought battle. Then on Tuesday night in a Varsity Double Header both the boys and girls soccer teams defeated Greeneview High School. The teams came together in a Pink Out Game to honor and remember those battling cancer between games.

For the past two years, the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) has offered waivers to Child Nutrition (CN) Programs across the United States, allowing these programs to offer all students breakfast and lunch at no charge. These waivers expired on June 30, 2022. This means that this school year, the CN programs across the nation will return to normal, pre-pandemic operations.
2022/23 Free and Reduced Meal Applications are available now. Please go to your Final Forms Account to print the application.

Paint & Decorate a Pumpkin

Families with children in grades 5 and under are invited to paint & decorate a pumpkin together. There will be a limit of one pumpkin per family. Space is limited and required registration begins on Monday, September 26. Please call the library @513-897-4826 to register.

Drop in Storytimes at Mary L. Cook Public Library! Please note new times: Drop in Monday 10:15am-10:30am, Tuesday 1:30pm-1:45pm, Wednesday 6:15pm - 6:30pm or Friday 10:15am - 10:30am. Join us in the children’s area for a few stories and laughs. No registration required.
TEEN FUN:
Teens in 6th - 12th grade, volunteer at the Library this fall and have a frightfully fun time earning community service hours! We are looking for teens to help us make not-so-spooky decorations for an upcoming outdoor children's program at the Library in October. We will start making crafts at the library Wednesday, September 21 - October 22. Group decoration meetings and drop-in volunteer hours are available. We will host a one-day park walk event on Saturday, October 29 from 10am-1pm at the Mary L. Cook Public Library. Volunteers will pass out treats during the event (Saturday, October 29 from 10am-1pm) along the library's park walkway or help with activities in the library. Volunteers have the option to volunteer for decoration making, event hosting, or both.
