Last month I was pleased to host the volunteering peak body CEOs with discussions focussed on supporting organisations in equity, diversity and inclusion in volunteering.
As part of the National Strategy for Volunteering, Australia-wide Visioning Workshops are being held with stakeholders to share their thoughts and ideas on the future of volunteering. After successful workshops in Adelaide, we are now in the process of planning for the Northern Territory, so please stay tuned.
I am looking forward to being part of the exciting announcements in the NT Volunteer of the Year Awards. I'll be in Alice Springs on 18 October, and Darwin on 20 October 2022 for the presentations.
We had an excellent response to our Annual Survey, and your feedback will assist in planning a better volunteering future. Congratulations to Anna, from member organisation, Katherine & District Show Society and Debra from Salvation Army SA, the two lucky winners in the survey competition.
Our Corporate Volunteering program is stepping up and I encourage all member organisations to register for the upcoming free workshop on How to be Corporate Volunteer Ready.
Invitations to our AGM and Networking Event on 27 October 2022 are now out, and for those not in Adelaide, it will be live streamed. We are excited for our first ‘Inclusive Volunteering Panel’, with people with lived experience.
As always, please keep up the good volunteering work!

CYBER SECURITY
A new report presented by PwC, and reported by Pro Bono Australia, has found that more than 60 per cent of not-for-profit sector leaders are not treating cybersecurity with the urgency that is required. Quick fixes like implementing multi-factor authentication, updating policies and procedures and providing staff training could all help strengthen cybersecurity.
