In 2011 Sis Yamah asked PCV Charlene Espinoza (left) for help with a girls' club. They soon realized there was a market for the bags the girls produced. They created Bosh Bosh Inc.

In 2020, PCV Karlin Scudder made the connection to TCP Global and now virtually mentors the loan program.

Bosh Bosh provides free education and vocational training, preparing the next generation for a better future. Beyond making beautiful bags from locally sourced materials, it’s about transferring skills and empowering girls and women through education.

Since opening the loan program 7-15-20, Bosh Bosh issued 40 loans. As of Nov 15th, they have invested their $1500 in loans twice and therefore qualify for an additional $1500 to expand the loan program. These are a few recent borrowers.

These are members of the Bosh Bosh Market Women Literacy Program along with Sis Yamah and two teachers.

Vivianne is part of the Bosh Bosh production team and has also been a market vendor for one year. The TCP Global loan enabled her to expand her inventory and increase profits and put her closer to her dream of completing university studies.
Beatrice, Hawa, Herrita and Courage, pictured above each have 5-10 years of experience as market vendors. TCP Global loans in 2020 helped them expand their inventory. With increased earnings Courage (above left) hopes to open a larger store while Beatrice, Hawa and Herrita dream of building homes for their families.
Sis Yamah has a remarkable story. After escaping the war in Liberia, she graduated from Koyamah Refugee Camp High School in Guinea. Returning to Liberia, she had to escape again to a displaced camp in Salala where she completed teacher training in Lofa County and then taught at the Martha Tubman school where she started the girls' camp, met Charlene and started Bosh Bosh in Salala. Women gain employment from making the beautiful Bosh Bosh bags and the proceeds fund scholarships for the Bosh Bosh girls.
Yamah continues to fight for girl’s education and women’s empowerment as the president of Bosh Bosh Inc.

In 2014 she was sponsored by ExxonMobil to attend the Global women in Management Training in Washington D.C. where she spent a month strengthening her leadership skills.

How you can support TCP Global:

1) Connect us, like Elyse did, with potential loan partners in marginalized communities

2) Forward this notice to help others understand the TCP Global mission as explained here by Kenney

3) Volunteer like Michelle, to mentor a loan program in a country you know well

4) Make a
donation  like Aixa Nuno of the Villages in Florida.
Why I give

Donated funds reach individuals who would otherwise not have access to small loans. As a former Peace Corps Volunteer, I know how many families struggle for self sufficiency, so I’d rather donate where the funds will reach the  unreachable.

TCP Global has zero overhead.  All funds donated go to the programs sponsored.

The repayment rate of TCP loans is the envy of many financial institutions, because the loan is more than a business transaction.  It is a commitment to success.

The funds directly benefit individuals, changing their lives for the better.  If a fishmonger who sells out of a bucket needs additional funds to buy another bucket and more fish, would the local bank lend her money?  Probably not.  TCP can help this person.

Maria raises egg laying chickens.  She  needs money to build a stand  so she can sell eggs from her front yard.  She can borrow the funds from TCP Global without going to the local loan sharks.  This will allow her to sell from home without having to pay someone to watch her children.

Aixa served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica.
