Know your degree requirements!


With registration for spring 2023 opening on October 17, we encourage you to make sure you are signing up for courses that count toward your degree by:
  • Checking your program's page in the Graduate Catalog. All requirements will be listed, including course, thesis/dissertation (if applicable), and other degree information.
  • Reviewing your degree audit in Degree Works to see how much progress you've made and to decide what's next.
  • Scheduling an appointment with your advisor if you still have questions about your program's requirements.

This session is for prospective applicants for the Graduate College Scholarship. Find out how to make your application stand out! This presentation will offer valuable insights into the application and review processes for these awards, including tips and tricks for success, requesting letters of recommendation, common mistakes to avoid, and an insider perspective on how this funding is awarded and disbursed.

  Exploring Graduate and Professional School Programs Fair


Have you ever thought about pursuing another graduate degree? Are you interested in learning more about the graduate programs available at Texas State and beyond? Make plans to attend the Exploring Graduate and Professional School Programs. This fair, hosted by The Graduate College and Career Services, provides prospective graduate students with an opportunity to meet and speak with representatives from Texas State’s various colleges about Texas State's master's and doctoral programs. You can also meet with representatives of graduate programs from other institutions in Texas and beyond.

  Graduate House of Representatives


The Graduate House of Representatives have created a survey to find out more about the concerns of our graduate student body, and what events they might attend to build community among graduate students. Please take few minutes to respond to the anonymous survey and share your opinions and ideas. (Survey should take 3-5 minutes to complete). At the end of the survey, you can choose to be entered into a drawing for one of three prizes (two $25 gift cards to Casa Maria and one Graduate House swag bag). All responses will be anonymous and will only be used to inform the Graduate House on how to better serve the graduate students at Texas State. Any information you choose to provide for the drawing will not be stored with your responses. The survey will be open until November 11th.   Counseling Center Fall Workshop Series

The Counseling Center is hosting a fall workshop series focused on mental health and wellness for the university community, including graduate students. All workshops will be recorded and available at Bobcat Mental Wellness Videos following each event. The Counseling Center also invites graduate students to join Learn to Know the Now: Mindfulness Programming. Mindfulness is an evidence-based practice that has demonstrated effectiveness in helping individuals manage stress, anxiety, and other common mental health and daily living concerns. 

  Working for the U.S. Department of State: Careers Representing America

Career Services and the Center for International Studies are co-hosting an informational session, Working for the U.S. Department of State: Careers Representing America, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 1 p.m. to 2p.m. in Derrick Hall 108. Guest speaker, Diplomat in Residence Texas, Kris Sivertson, will cover various internship, fellowship, and full-time opportunities to work within the government at the U.S. Department of State. Details and pre-registration can be found via the Handshake event webpage.

External funding opportunity: Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program

Program Overview: offers fully funded summer overseas intensive language instruction in Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu
Eligibility:enrollment in a degree-granting program (master’s, doctoral, and professional)
Citizenship: U.S. citizens
Benefits:domestic and international travel; language instruction; room and board; stipend
Deadline: November 15, 2022

Dollars & Sense Presentation: Critical Language Scholarship (Online)

This introductory information session is for prospective applicants to the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), which provides opportunities for graduate students to study foreign languages overseas. A program of the U.S. Department of State, CLS is a fully-funded, intensive language and cultural immersion program offered during 8-10 week summer sessions and designed to promote rapid language gains. Learn everything you need to know about the application process, including eligibility requirements and selection process.
