 Dear Church Family,

I have served in three state conventions (Illinois, North Carolina, and Virginia), which was a true privilege. And, I have to say, there is no "annual meeting" quite like the SBC of Virginia (SBCV) Homecoming. The name hints that this is not a typical Baptist state convention annual meeting; instead, it is a time of singing, preaching, and hearing all that God is doing around the Commonwealth and the world through the work of the SBCV.

I am so glad that FBC Park Street is a faithful partner with the SBCV. Indeed, we partner with the SBCV to host training events, mission trip opportunities, and other kingdom-advancing efforts. If you have never been to the SBCV Homecoming, I encourage you to consider going this year. The SBCV Homecoming will be held at First Baptist Church in Roanoke, beginning at 6 PM on Sunday, November 13th, and ending at noon on Tuesday, November 15th.

This year, musical guests will include Meredith Andrews, LU Praise, Liberty University Choir, and the FBC Roanoke Worship Team. The guest speakers include Dave Early, Clint Pressley, H.B. Charles, Bruce Frank, Stan Parris, and Brian Autry. You can see a detailed schedule at
 SBCV Homecoming Schedule

Based on our church's membership and giving to the Cooperative Program, we are entitled to 15 messengers. Since I attend every year, we have 14 spots remaining. If you would like to participate, please email me so I can get you registered as a messenger. You can email me at robp@fbparkstreet.com if you'd like to participate. You are also welcome to attend the event as a guest. If you have some time available and want to hear one of the guest speakers, I highly recommend it.

The Scriptures tell us how good and pleasant it is when brothers (and sisters) dwell together in unity (Ps 133:1). The SBCV Homecoming is an excellent example of this kind of unity. An agreement derived from a shared conviction that the Bible is God's Word, the people are lost without Christ, and that Jesus has called us to take the gospel to our neighbors and the nations. I hope you will consider attending!

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday, either in person or on Livestream. This week we will continue our sermon series from the book of Nehemiah called "Vision and Grit." Please read Neh. 2:11-16 in preparation for worship. I hope to see you with a Bible in your hand, a smile on your face, and an unchurched friend by your side!

It's a joy to be your pastor,

Pastor Rob
