Plant of the month: Hawthorn

As the leaves begin to change and fall, the hawthorn tree stands out with small red berries that cling onto its spiny branches into the Winter. Salish Tribes have used these berries— which are high in antioxidants that benefit the heart and blood flow —as food and medicine since time immemorial.

You can learn how to make a delicious herbal tea using hawthorn berries in this blog post written by our Wild Foods and Medicine coordinator, Elise Krohn.
