DEVOTIONAL
IDENTITY
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.
Colossians 2:9-10
These two verses are powerful. In them, our identity is established. Jesus’ identity is clarified.
Jesus is God in human form. He is not partly God but completely God, but in the body of man.
This version uses the term fullness. Jesus is the fullness of God and we are brought into fullness because of Jesus. The King James version says we are made complete.
I can’t help but think of a puzzle. All the pieces are there in the box. Someone has to do something, take action to put it together. When they do this, the pieces of the puzzle will fit in their specific spots. Before you know it, the puzzle is complete and we can see the full picture.
Jesus completed the puzzle by dying to pay our debts and overcoming death three days later. In Him we are brought into fullness. We are made complete. In Jesus we find our identity.
Be blessed and be a blessing, Matt
