A Message from MFMC President:

Greetings MFMC Members,

Autumn is in full swing and so is MFMC! Senior Club meetings have resumed, and District Meetings are underway. Festival Areas are ramping up for a superb 2023 Festival Season. Information and applications for the 2023 Awards will soon be available on our website. Leadership Education Webinars are available for your professional development and an inspiring 2023 Convention is being planned to feature a Junior Day on Saturday.

With so many great opportunities, just a gentle reminder that to participate, you must submit your membership dues by October 15 to avoid late fees. If you still need to register, just access the MFMC website and click on Membership. Then choose either Senior or Junior Membership and follow the easy step by step instructions. Remember you can also pay online for convenience.

Wishing you a spirited Autumn Season and thank you for all you do for MFMC!

MFMC High School and College-Age Awards

As the award season begins, it is time to bring attention to our MFMC High School
and College-Age Awards!

The High School awards for students in grades 10-12 ( $700 First Place), include
the categories of brass, organ, strings, percussion, piano, voice, and woodwinds.

NFMC Junior Composer entries are open to all students up to 18 years of age. Our

College-Age Awards ($1,000 First Place), include the Elizabeth Gardner Voice
Award for adults aged 18-22, the Music Therapy Award for students currently
enrolled in the music therapy programs at Eastern or Western Michigan
University, and The Rosamond P. Haeberle Memorial Piano Award ($5,000) for
students pursuing a degree in piano performance.

I invite you to share this information with all eligible students and music teachers. We need to support our talented young musicians! Flyers and applications will be
available soon on the MFMC Website at mfmcmi.org.

2023 MFMC CONVENTION UPDATES

FAREWELL TO INGRID WITH FOND MEMORIES!

Ingrid Maire of Spring Lake, MI, age 89, passed away on October 1, 2021.

Ingrid graduated from Western Michigan University and taught in the Muskegon Heights School District.

Ingrid’s life revolved around music and singing, and she always had Blue Lake Radio playing in the background.

She was a member of MFMC, serving as the state Festival Cup Chair, and the White Lake Chorale. She was also the last member of the Cecilian Civic Music Club and for many years she paid the dues for the club, just to keep the name in the MFMC directory.

Ingrid had a strong faith and she enjoyed Bible studies throughout her life as well as swimming and walking along Lake Michigan.
