Working Group "Integrated Control in Oilseed Crops"

IOBC-WPRS Bulletin Vol. 157, 2022

Proceedings of the online meeting May 17th-18th, 2022

This online meeting was attended by 138 registered participants from 27 different countries; our highest attendance ever! We were able to run a longer programme with 40 talks and 18 posters; with most of the posters presented via 5-minute ‘flash talks’.
Additionally, the International Clubroot Initiative, coordinated by Elke Diederichsen from Freie Universität in Berlin-Dahlem decided to join us, giving one more full day to the pathologists’ programme, enriching it with an additional 14 full talks, which would have be hard to squeeze into the regular ICOC WG meeting.

The IOBC-WPRS WG “Integrated Control of Oilseed Crops” (ICOC) is a relatively small but very active WG. In a world where there is growing concern about the urgent need to develop sustainable crop protection strategies, ICOC forms an ideal platform for development of collaborative research with pathologists and entomologists working together with agronomists to push integrated control in oilseed crops another step forward.

ICOC has been active since 1982. It was founded by a group of oilseed rape pathologists and entomologists, and after some years expanded its activities to other oilseed crops including sunflower, lineseed and false flax. The WG has become an international forum for the development of sustainable low-input oilseed crop production systems, with the aim of fostering biological and integrated control in oilseed crops, to minimize pesticides and fossil fuel use, and to maximize the exploitation of genetic resources.
