Tips, Tools, and Resources
Current students in the Ashland MFA program have access to a complimentary Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) student membership. AWP offers its members access to loads of resources, from the annual AWP Conference (held in Seattle in 2023) to The Writer's Chronicle, AWP's monthly magazine.
The Writer's Chronicle went completely digital in September - now you can log in to the magazine at anytime from anywhere using your AWP credentials. Audio versions of articles are also available.
Other Resources from AWP:
- Careers: Go to the careers section of AWP for advice, resources on careers in writing and publishing, and a member-exclusive job list geared towards writers
- Contests & Awards: AWP sponsors six contests themselves and also provides a listing of grants, awards, and publication opportunities
- Writers' Conferences & Centers: AWP's directory of conferences and centers is one of the most comprehensive listings for festivals, conferences, retreats, and residencies on the web
- AWP Conference: This is a huge event held annually for writers, teachers, students, editors, and publishers of contemporary creative writing, with loads of presenters and a HUGE book fair
