Food and Beverage Sector Opportunities for the Kāpiti Coast
The Economic Development Kotahitanga Board recently engaged First Retail Group to undertake research into Kāpiti Coast’s food and beverage sector.
Research findings have been compiled into a Food and Beverage Cluster Report, which was presented to food and beverage stakeholders in September.
The objective of the research was to develop a picture of how the sector is evolving, understand stakeholder-led requirements for success, and determine potential funding sources for cluster concepts.
The report provides a roadmap for the continued success of the F&B sector. It found that a network cluster group and precinct groups could elevate existing relationships to improve communication and productivity.
The next step is resourcing the industry to undertake the development of the F&B clusters in alignment with this strategy.

Update on the sustainable business network
Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti was launched in July this year as FREE network and resource to help businesses operate more sustainably.
We have welcomed over 40 businesses so far and have many asked about services that are needed or available and what other businesses are doing in this area.
On the Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti website we have included a new section, Tried & Tested, which will cover projects and services that businesses can utilise and contribute to.
There are also new articles discussing local initiatives on our News & Insights page:
- Food to Farm - Organic Wealth's food scrap collection service
- The Tohorā Community Art Project - waste in waterways inspires community art installation.
If you have any suggestions for an article on the Pakihi Toitū o Kāpiti website or a question you would like to see answered, please email us.
