  • Handel's "Messiah" Sing- Sunday 3PM-Valley Presbyterian Church, 21 West Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT. -An annual event, Messiah was performed well into the 1770’s in support of the UK Foundling Hospital, which was established in 1739 by George II to care for the babies that would otherwise have been abandoned by desperate mothers, usually young and unmarried, who had nowhere else to turn. Handel conducted or attended every performance at the Foundling Hospital Chapel until his death in 1759. These concerts not only helped secure the Messiah's place in the nation's affections, they succeeded in raising the huge sum of £7,000 for the charity. In the spirit of generosity as demonstrated by Handel's lifelong support of the UK's first children's charity, we will donate 100% of the donations received at the door to the Refugee Resettlement Ministry at the Congregational Church of Brookfield, CT in support of refugees from Ukraine currently living in Brookfield. MESSIAH SING is free to the public with a suggested donation at the door in support of Ukrainian Refugee Relief. Come and sing or to listen to Handel’s Messiah, Parts II & III.
