This Sunday – The Ten Commandments
Week 5 of the Narrative Lectionary
After liberating the Israelites from slavery in Egypt by leading them through the Red Sea into the wilderness of Sinai, the LORD makes a formal covenant with them. God tells the people through Moses, ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now, therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation.’
After this, again through Moses, God gives the people the Ten Commandments, also known as the Decalogue, or the ten words.
These are designed to shape the relationship first between God and the Israelites as well as their relationship as a community.

NURSERY ATTENDANT HIRED
This morning we welcome our new nursery attendant. Chickadee (they/them) is a junior at Cornell with a math and education major. They have lots of experience with kids and are looking forward to meeting ours! Welcome, Chickadee!
SUNDAY SCHOOL for PRE-K AND OLDER
Children are invited to go downstairs after Discovery Time for music with Julia and then class with teachers Shane Austerman and Emily Walsh
This year both in Worship and Sunday School, we are using the Narrative Lectionary, which follows the story of the Bible from the Old Testament through New Testament, from Genesis to Pentecost.
COOPERATIVE YOUTH GROUP - ROOTED
Youth in Grades 6-12 are invited to join us on Wednesdays for a cooperative youth group with Seeds of Faith Lutheran and the United Methodist Church. Friends are welcome!

Night Hike at the Pal! A Sensory Experience!
We will take a walk in the woods after dark without the use of cellphones or flashlights. We will do activities to help us build and understand how our senses work in the dark.
OCTOBER MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY!
Thanks to everyone who has signed up to deliver Meals on Wheels in October! We are in need of volunteers for just two days—Wednesday 10/26; and Friday 10/28. It’s easy to help! Pick up insulated containers and list of deliveries at Southeast Linn Community Center in Lisbon, make the deliveries, then return the containers.

SEPTEMBER NOISY OFFERING
Sunday, September 18, our children collected loose change and “quiet money” for the good work of Southeast Linn Community Center. The total collected was $95.84. Thanks for supporting our kids and community! Our next Noisy Offering is on October 16.
