Events and Things to Do in Sanford
Have you seen the Riverwalk along Lake Monroe lately? The sidewalk is no longer visible and you can see just the tops of the swings and benches peeking above the water at the Sanford Riverwalk (see photo below). Ian has definitely left his mark. We sure hope you are all safe and fared the storm well! We know there is lots of work to be done in order to get things back to how they once were, but that’s what community is all about. We hope that during this time as many start to pick up the broken pieces and attempt to rebuild their homes or lives, you will take a moment and reach out to a neighbor, local business or possibly even a stranger in another city and lend a helping hand!
Even though the Riverwalk is currently flooded, 1st Street and beyond is dry and open, so there couldn't be a better time for you to show our local businesses your support!

October 7th-9th: The Sullivan Irish Party & Anniversary Weekend
Join us for a spectacular Anniversary Weekend Party here at The Sullivan Public House!
We kick off the party on Friday Night which will feature a personalized Guinness Pint Glass engraving from 6-8pm.
This will be followed by the talented Henry Hood playing your favorite Irish tunes and taking crowd requests.
Friday night drink specials include $5 Irish Slammers (car bombs) and $5 select beer and whiskey options!
Saturday Night we have Alex Richard 8-11pm and Sunday we're hosting the Irish Olympics 4-6pm hosted by Amiet! We'll have a Guinness chugging contest among other fun games with prizes such as a bottle of Irish Whiskey and a Sullivan gift card.

October 7th-16th: Grease: The Musical
Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their Summer Nights as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as Greased Lightnin’, It’s Raining on Prom Night, Alone at the Drive-In Movie, and more.
Grease is among the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following. Rated PG-13

Saturday, October 8th: Sanford Historic Trust Community Picnic
We're bringing back the Community Picnic! It's been a heck of a few years and we can't wait to see everyone again. Please invite a neighbor who may not know about us and join us on October 8th from 4-6pm at Park on Park. The Trust will provide the burgers & dogs. Please RSVP to bring a side or dessert. Saturday, October 8th: Cheesemaking
Fermentation is really about control over an environment, and this is most applicable to cheese making. In this class we will take you through the steps necessary to make numerous types of soft cheeses at home, plus guide you through the differences in technique and ingredients to get the various hardened and aged cheeses you see in stores and recipes. We will not just show you the steps to make cheese, we will also teach you why we do each step and how it affects the texture and flavor of the resultant cheese, as well as go through milk selection and other important considerations. After the class, you sample delicious fresh cheese!

Time to save the dates - 𝐃𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐡'𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐎𝐤𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭, our annual German party in beautiful Historic Downtown Sanford on November 4th, 5th and 6th!
This indoor-outdoor festival at the 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 will feature authentic German food from Hollerbach’s German Restaurant and Market, German beer, wine, Schnapps and desserts, a Kids Zone presented by Ladies 327 of Sanford, and German-style entertainment including polka music, folk instruments, yodeling, and dancing in traditional costumes. This year we'll have two bandstands - one inside and one outdoors - and the King Guys Band and Sonnenschein Express will be returning with their traditional German folk music! November 20th: 2022 Sofas and Suds
What the hell is this? Sofas and Suds is a Couch Racing and Beer Chasing event taking place in Sanford, FL on Sunday, November 20th, 2022 (2-6pm). It will be local businesses pitting their racing outfitted sofas against one another to determine who is really the best at pushing a sofa up and down the street . . . or who is the worst but yet the crowd favorite. Duh.
Who is participating in the races? We are encouraging small businesses in (but not necessarily limited to) Sanford to field a couch-racing team and enter. You will be entered into a bracket-style (16 teams) single-elimination race format to determine couch-pushing supremacy.
